This Charming Disney Switch Exclusive Game May Be Heading For The PS5 Soon

The incredibly charming Switch-exclusive Disney Illusion Island may not be an exclusive for long, as a leak reveals a potential upcoming port to the PS5. The stylized platformer originally launched in July 2023 and unfortunately for non-Switch gamers, the title was only available on the Nintendo Switch in the two years since. Now, a leak has revealed that the game is leaving behind its exclusivity and making the leap to the PlayStation 5.

According to a X post by Gematsu (spotted by Push Square), a website scrape has revealed that Disney Illusion Island may be leaving its exclusive spot on the Nintendo Switch and coming to the PS5 soon. An additional leak from PlayStation Size on X sets the potential release date of May 30. There's no official word on when this information will be revealed, but leaked PS5 port announcement art makes this a rumor that's likely to be true.

PS5 Owners May Soon Be Able To Enjoy Disney Illusion Island

The Port Will Introduce A New C.A.S.H. Update

If the leak is to be believed, then PS5 players will soon get a chance to buy and play Disney Illusion Island. According to the leaked information, the title will be arriving on the PS5 on May 30. The PS5 version will include the two previously released free updates, The Keeper Up and Mystery in Monoth,as well as a brand-new update called C.A.S.H. which stars Scrooge McDuck (naturally).

Disney is making a brand-new platformer called Illusion Island, starring the iconic Mickey Mouse and his best friends, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy.

No more information is available yet about the upcoming Scrooge McDuck update. Based on the previous updates, though, we can surmise that it will be free and include a new quest for the friends to partake in. Presumably, the alleged update is also coming out on the Switch, though this is yet to be confirmed.

Disney Illusion Island Is A Delightful Romp Featuring Beloved Characters

The Game Is A Family-Friendly Metroidvania

Disney Illusion Island is a Rayman-esque side-scrolling 2D platformerfull of Disney charm like Disney's other video games. The officially licensed Disney game was developed by Dlala Studios and features a distinct whimsical art style and original voice acting. The experience is supposed to mimic playing through a classic Mickey Mouse cartoon.

The title follows Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy on what's supposed to be a peaceful vacation. The four characters meet the adventure head-on, charged with finding several mysterious books on the island of Monoth. Up to four players can join in the mayhem as the characters run, jump, swim, and swing their way through different stages.

In Screen Rant's own review of Illusion Island, writer Christopher Teuton calls it a "Mickeyvania," and the description seems apt. According to the review, the game is a great introduction to Metroidvanias for families to play together, featuring cooperative mechanics like hugging to restore health. The potential port of Disney Illusion Island to the PS5 will make it accessible to a wider audience, and the new update will keep even existing fans entertained.
