WWE Monday Night Raw Results - Feb 17, 2025
- Sami Zayn opens Raw and says there will be no forgiving and no forgetting when it comes to Kevin Owens. He says Kevin tried to end his career, but didn't get the job done. Sami says he'll see him in Toronto, he wants that fight and everybody wants this fight.
- General Manager Adam Pearce enters the Spectrum Center. Pearce says he knows they both want the match, and everyone else does too. But Pearce tells Sami he has been told "no" by him, Nick Aldis, medical and the board.
- Sami is not medically cleared and he shouldn't be in that ring. The answer is "no". Pearce says he has known them both for 20 years, before WWE, and this has got to stop.
- The match cannot be sanctioned, and so Pearce makes Kevin Owens vs Sami Zayn at Elimination Chamber in an Unsanctioned Match.
- The Judgment Day are shown with Dom preparing to face AJ Styles. Finn says they will all be in the Elimination Chamber by the end of the night, that it would be embarrassing if Roxanne loses to Roxanne Perez, and that there should be "no new members".
- AJ Styles defeats Dominik Mysterio with the Styles Clash in his first match on Raw in over 2 years. Dirty Dom had a surprisingly impressive showing, and AJ looked great after a severe injury.
- Bron Breaker sneaks into the ring. He attempts to spear AJ Styles and hits Dom instead. The pair stare at each other and have a bizarre t-shirt throwing back-and-forth.
- The Creed Brothers are happy with their match against War Raiders despite losing, and Julius Creed will be on the new series of UFC reality show, The Ultimate Fighter.
- Dakota Kai defeats Ivy Nile to earn an Intercontinental Championship match. IC Champion Lyra Valkyria enters the ring, and the two have a stare-down.
- Gunther mimicks Jey Uso's entrance, as he enters the area from the concourse and walks through the Charlotte, NC crowd, while doing a Yeet motion. Gunther says he outclasses Jey Uso in every way at this sport, and he cuts his promo while walking through the crowd.
- He says the Yeet is a simple motion for simple people. Gunther says wrestling for people who like Jey Uso is like reading Shakespeare to a dog. He says he is sick of facing people who can't lace his boots.
- Gunther says at WrestleMania, the people who have Yeeted are all going to be responsible for what he does to Jey, and "Jey Uso's blood will be on your hands".
- Gunther walks to Michael Cole and Pat McAfee's commentary desk and asks them if he thinks that Jey can beat him at WrestleMania.
- He throws his mic at Pat McAfee, and Pat says he thinks Jey can beat him at WrestleMania.
- Gunther is about to attack McAfee, but Jey Uso arrives. Jey takes it to Gunther. Officials separate the two but they both continue to brawl to end a fantastic segment.
- Liv Morgan is asked by Cathy Kelly if they were responsible for injuring Jade Cargill, after they were seen on film at the scene of the crime on SmackDown.
- Liv says she and Raquel don't have time for her questions, and if they had attacked Jade they would not feel bad about it.
- Penta beats Pete Dunne in what was perhaps the Luchador's best match in WWE so far. Ludwig Kaiser had gotten involved at ringside and drew the wrath of Dunne and Penta after the match, with Penta diving on Dunne and Kaiser.
- Cathy Kelly speaks to Jey Uso. A passionate Jey Uso says he's sick of people doubting him, he's the Royal Rumble match winner and at WrestleMania, Uso says he's going to shock the world again.
- A War Raiders vignette airs and they say they respect The Creed Brothers after their great match on last week's Raw, but "Erik and Ivar say they just aren't built for War".
- Roxanne Perez defeats Raquel Rodriguez after chaos broke out at ringside. Binaca Belair and Naomi arrived in the middle of the match and attacked Liv Morgan. Morgan and Rodriguez have a Tag Team Championship match against Belair and Naomi on next week's Raw.
- Seth Rollins is interviewed ahead of his match with Finn Balor. He says he's going to Elimination Chamber and then Karrion Kross arrives at the end of the interview.
- Karrion Kross says that Sami Zayn is in deep trouble, but "there's always more time to turn it around".
- An excellent vignette on Iyo Sky airs. It's cinematic and features her history with Rhe Ripley and shows her underwater and talking about how her path to WrestleMania isn't so clear but she can beat Rhea and be Champion again.
- The New Day are in the ring and say "get well soon, Rey" to Rey Mysterio after injuring him at the end of last week's Raw. Xavier Woods says they don't respect Rey Mysterio or Big E.
- Kofi Kingston says he has more title wins than Rey Mysterio and has been in WWE longer and gets no respect. Rey wanted to kick them out of the locker room, and so they had to hurt him.
- The LWO say what they did to Rey was unforgivable, He cuts a promo in Spanish, ending it with "New Day Sucks". The LWO clean house.
- Seth Rollins defeats Finn Balor with a Stomp at the end of a fantastic match. Seth becomes the last man to qualify for Elimination Chamber in Toronto.
Gunther Steals The Show
An Outstanding Week For The Ring General
This was a segment that worked from the very beginning. As Gunther came into shot, stood on the concourse and surrounded by screaming fans in the manner Jey Uso is ordinarily set up before asking for his music to be played and entering through the crowd, he carried the air of a man about to cook. He has long been underrated for his character and promos, but declaring that showcasing his brand of elevated wrestling for Jey Uso fans was like "reading Shakespeare to a dog" was particularly brilliant, showing just one of the reasons Gunther is one of WWE's most improved performers on the mic.
If Jey Uso is to succeed in seeming like a World Heavyweight Champion, Gunther is going to be more villainous than ever. It seemed that WWE just teased Gunther getting physical with Pat McAfee. McAfee is one of WWE's most popular personalities, and both he and Cole's enthusiastic Yeeting has helped Jey rise from popular mid-carder to top-tier superstar. It would be fitting for Gunther to take aim at Pat, and if Gunther is determined to be WrestleMania's main bad guy, it's a role his look, accent, superiority complex, and god-given wrestling talent were built for.
Naomi And Bianca Are In No Mood
The Women's Tag Team Champions Throw Hands On Raw
Make no mistake about it, Bianca Belair and Naomi arrived on Raw for a fight. None of their wrestling prowess or athletic magnificence was to be found here. This was pure "let me take these earrings out and stomp your face" energy, as Bianca and Naomi wanted answers about Jade Cargill's injury, specifically from Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez. The latest developments has the Judgment Day women as chief suspects, but something smells rotten here.
Morgan evaded all questions about Jade's injury, thus Cargill's attacker remains unnamed. The problem is that Liv Morgan is one of WWE's most antagonizing performers. Her romance with Domink Mysterio is intentionally gross and her promos are infuriatingly goading. Liv feels like she'd put that she injured Cargill on a t-shirt for sale on WWE Shop for 30% off with the code LOLJADESUX, so being evasive about injuring Cargill doesn't add up. Belair and Naomi handed victory to Roxanne Perez, costing Rodriguez a place in the Elimination Chamber, but this adds spice to their Tag Team title match on Raw next week.
Sami Zayn Gets His Wish
Against Doctors Orders And The Wishes Of WWE, Zayn Will Fight In Canada
There are not many superstars more loved than Sami Zayn. However, take a second to think about where that love comes from. Sami inspires sympathy in people because they are empathetic to Zayn being overlooked or unfancied. Sami The Honorary Uce was bullied by Roman and Jimmy Uso, and we want "Sami the victim" to fight back against his oppressors. Monday night saw a very different Sami Zayn, and it suited him.
Sick and tired of being the Underdog From The Underground with all of that Rocky energy, this was a night that Sami Zayn showed that the hunted could become the hunter. Stripped of his usual cuddly everyman schtick, Zayn was like a psychopath off the leash. He told WWE officials who were scared for his safety that they should fear for Kevin Owens. They are due to meet at Elimination Chamber, but Owens vs Zayn has to happen at this year's WrestleMania. This latest development adds intrigue to how we get there.
This was a week in which Gunther stole the show, playing his role as the villain to the family-friendly Jey Uso with riveting and venomous aplomb. Jey Uso continued to tug at the heartstrings, and will be dragged between now and their match at WrestleMania. Elsewhere, Penta is noticeably one of Monday Night Raw's most popular performers at this point, and Bianca and Naomi looked amazing kicking ass dressed as the East Compton Clovers from Bring It On. Most intriguingly on tonight's Raw, Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens are both putting their WrestleMania spots on the line by entering an Unsanctioned Match with one another before WWE's big day.
