The devastating Thomas Fire burning in Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties is now the second-largest wildfire in California history, charring 270,000 acres as of Tuesday night and surpassing 2012’s Rush Fire in Lassen County. Officials don’t predict full containment until January 8.
