Timothée Chalamet Brings His Lookalikes As He Works Double Duty For His Historic SNL Episode
Timothée Chalamet brings his lookalikes along for the ride of his upcoming historic Saturday Night Liveepisode. The actor is fresh off his success with 2024’s Dune: Part Two and A Complete Unknown, both of which are performing well in the awards season, earning Golden Globes nominations for Best Picture - Drama and a nod for Best Actor for the latter. This upcoming Saturday, Chalamet will not only be stepping into Studio H for a third time, but, on top of his hosting duties, will also be serving as a musical guest, marking the first time in 30 years that Lorne Michaels has tapped a non-professional singer to do so.
In a new promo from SNL, Chalamet brings a few familiar faces to help out with his workload in Studio H. The Oscar-nominated actor starts off the promo by saying his double duties on the upcoming episode of SNL is something he’s never done before, so he’s brought in a little help. A quick zoom out from the camerareveals four Chalametlookalikes in several outfits iconic to Chalamet: there’s a Bob Dylan Timmy, a Paris Timmy (wearing the outfit Chalamet wore to the Paris premiere of A Complete Unknown), a Wonka Timmy, and Everyday Timmy.
The promo shows the lookalikes helping out with several SNL-related tasks, like talking to the writers, working on his monologue, and listening to Mikey Day boast about hosting Is it Cake? The promotional skit ends with Chalamet sending Paris Timmy to an interview with Jimmy Fallon. Watch the video from SNL below:
What This Means For SNL
Timothée Chalamet Recognizes The Cultural Impact Of His Lookalike Contest
Back in late October 2024, the superstar and heartthrob made news by showing up unannounced to a Chalamet lookalike contest that allegedly had up to 1,000 contestants, crowding Washington Square Park and eventually involving the police, ultimately leading to the arrest of one lookalike. The contest made a significant impact online and has spawned similar contests. The 2024 obsession of lookalike contests and his involvement in it is clearly not lost on Chalamet, who leaned into it with his recent SNL promo, which has so far been well-received and provided good optics for the viewership of the upcoming episode.
Our Take On SNL’s New Promo
Chalamet Continues To Tap Into The Zeitgeist
Chalamet has personally always been an impressive figure in the industry, choosing emotional, intimate minor roles in smaller movies before moving on to bigger projects. In doing so, he’s established himself as a talented artist and growing household name, quickly cementing his legacy in film with a steady, upward trajectory in his career.
However, it’s also his public behavior outside his work that’s commendable, as the actor has often shown an intuitive knack to tap into the zeitgeist of his generation, capturing and embodying the ideas and beliefs of his time in both his performances and public appearances. With this being his third appearance on SNL, I’m excited to see what the actor has in store as a host and musical guest.
