Twisted Metal Season 2 Revealed Its Version Of Calypso, And I'm Officially Sold On The Casting
Although I initially felt unsure about Peacock’s Twisted Metal season 2 casting Anthony Carrigan as Calypso, I’m sold on the actor after seeing the trailer. Outside of Rob Zombie and Axel, the Twisted Metal character I most hoped to see onscreen in the Peacock TV show was Calypso, and I had high expectations for the iconic villain. He has a great backstory, and there’s something enjoyable about him distorting the wishes of the winners. The tease at the end of Twisted Metal season 1 increased excitement, promising that he would join the cast of season 2.
After two years, Twisted Metal season 2 will finally return to the small screen in the Summer of 2025. While the first season did the worldbuilding and laid the narrative foundation, the sophomore season will shift focus to the tournament, run by Anthony Carrigan’s Calypso. The new trailer for Twisted Metal season 2 gives fans the first glimpse into Peacock’s version of the character, and I am finally on board with the casting.
How Calypso's Appearance In Twisted Metal Season 2 Compares To The Video Games
Carrigan's Calypso Closely Matches The Villain Of Twisted Metal (2012)
Calypso’s appearance in the Twisted Metal games can generally be separated into four categories – long-haired professional (Twisted Metal 1 through 4 and 2012), Lex Luthor with a glass eye (Twisted Metal: Black), Sid from Toy Story (Twisted Metal: Small Brawl), and gray-haired Dracula (Twisted Metal: Head-On). Although Anthony Carrigan’s appearance prior to the Peacock show looked most like the Twisted Metal: Black version of the character, his appearance in the Twisted Metal season 2 trailer leans into the traditional long-haired professional look.
Carrigan’s Calypso has the facial features of Twisted Metal 2, minus the scars, and the hair and clothes of Twisted Metal (2012). They maintain the shoulder pads in the suit jacket, which gives it the same boxy appearance. The costume designers even put attention into matching the color of Carrigan’s tie to the red of theTwisted Metal video game character’s tie, with the biggest difference being that the TV show version has a black pattern on the red tie.

Carrigan's Version Of Calypso Captures The Ambiance Of The Twisted Metal Villain
Outside of the simple visuals, Anthony Carrigan’s performance in the trailer, albeit brief, gives me hope that he will be an excellent Calypso. In the few seconds that he appears onscreen, Anthony Carrigan’s Calypso succeeds at feeling menacing while extremely calm. This feels appropriate for the villain, who seems to turn on and off his sadistic side like a light switch.
Carrigan’s inflection and pacing when speaking in the trailer also sound similar to G. Russell Reynolds’ dialogue while talking to Sweet Tooth in Twisted Metal (2012), which is a good sign that the actor is taking inspiration from the original games while also making the character his own in Peacock’s Twisted Metal.
