MANILA – University of Santo Tomas seeks to claim the title when it battles Pilipinas Aguilas meet in the winner-take-all Game 3 of the Women’s Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (WMPBL) Invitational Finals at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium on Wednesday.

Game time is 6 p.m.

The Tigresses relied on Nigerian center Oma Onianwa and Rachelle Ambos to beat Pilipinas Aguilas, 69-64, in Game 2 last Sunday to force the rubber match.

Onianwa had 30 points, eight rebounds, three blocks and two steals. Ambos chipped in 13 points as UST bounced back from an 86-95 double overtime loss in Game 1 last April 16 at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.

Both are expected to perform well again with support coming from Kent Pastrana and Eka Soriano.

UST head coach Ged Austria said the team has to limit its mistakes and maintain discipline on both ends of the floor.

"We need to correct our mistakes, that's part of the game plan," Austria said. “I already told the players what else is wrong and what needs to be improved."

Meanwhile, Fil-American guard Alexis Pana will banner Pilipinas Aguilas in their bid for glory.

“I just want to play our game and just focus on the things that we need to correct and all that stuff,” said Pana, who finished with 17 points, eight rebounds, five assists, four steals, and a block in Game 2. Backing her up are Mar Prado, Elaine Etang, and Chack Cabinbin. (PNA)
