Victim of Rare Mountain Lion Attack Identified

Sonja Brooks, a 32-year-old from Seattle, was killed while mountain biking near North Bend last Saturday.

Authorities identified the victim of Saturday’s fatal mountain lion attack near North Bend as 32-year-old Sonja Brooks of Seattle. Brooks and a friend tried to scare the mountain lion away, but it still pounced, injuring the friend and killing Brooks. Wildlife officers tracked and killed the cat later that day.
