Vincent D'Onofrio Addresses Kingpin's Shocking MCU Twist & Hints At A "Bigger & Crazier" Endgame For The Marvel Villain
As Wilson Fisk is about to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Kingpin's Daredevil: Born Again storyline gets addressed by Vincent D'Onofrio. With Daredevil: Born Again continuing the evolution of Matt Murdock, Kingpin is taking major steps forward as a crime lord in the MCU timeline. After teasing it in the Echo series in 2024, Kingpin will be running for mayor of New York, which is going to be a crucial storyline in Daredevil: Born Again season 1.
In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly to promote the Daredevil: Born Again trailer, D'Onofrio gave new details about the Mayor Fisk storyline that will be explored in season 1. Teasing the future for the MCU show and character, D'Onofrio added that something like Fisk's mayoral arc could be "leading to something that's even bigger and crazier," as he stated the following:

What Vincent D'Onofrio's Mayor Fisk Comments Mean For Daredevil: Born Again
Given that Daredevil: Born Again season 2 is already confirmed to be happening, it shouldn't come as a surprise that Kingpin's arc to become the New York mayor is set to potentially lead to bigger things. It's also key to take into account that the Mayor Fisk saga has been one of Wilson's biggest arcs in the larger Marvel canon, which is now finally getting its chance to be explored outside the comics. However, as Kingpin has been utilized more in other MCU TV shows in the last few years, the mayor arc could potentially go beyond Daredevil: Born Again.
While D'Onofrio is obviously teasing something larger to come with Fisk's new storyline in Daredevil: Born Again, it is very possible that Kingpin could finally be starting to be fleshed out as not just a foe to Daredevil, but other street-level heroes in the MCU. If the MCU is about to do a variation of Marvel's Devil Reign, where Mayor Fisk/Kingpin ended up making superheroes and vigilantes in New York outlawed, this could connect to many other characters in the city, and that could very well be what D'Onofrio is teasing.

With Kingpin being one of the best villains in the entire MCU, there are so many directions they can go with him for years to come, both in and out of Daredevil: Born Again. As Daredevil: Born Again arrives in two months, time will tell what fans can look forward to with Kingpin in the series.
