Viral One Piece Theory Suggests the Grand Line Is Hiding Legendary Devil Fruits
One Piece’s Elbaph arc has been a complete game-changer for the beloved series created by Eiichiro Oda. Despite it still being in its early stages, Luffy’s new adventure has already given fans invaluable information about the world of the series, its lore, and the dangers the heroes will have to face in the future. With each new entry, readers understand One Piece’s universe better.
Nonetheless, the Land of the Giants has also caused many mysteries and theories to arise, most of them revolving around the island’s mythology. After the release of chapter #1141, a hypothesis about the Adam Tree, the center of all life on Elbaph, has been circulating among fans. This theory could explain the origins of some of the strongest Devil Fruits, as well as the importance of certain characters during the series’ grand finale.
Could the Most Powerful Devil Fruit Come From Elbaph?
Their Myths Could Hide the Truth Behind These Treasures
The Harley Texts, a compilation of Elbaph’s culture, history, and mythology, have been a massive source of information for fans ever since they were introduced in chapter #1138 of the One Piece manga. While it is hard to pinpoint which of all the significant stories contained among its pages is the most important, the origins of the series’ world are undoubtedly the ones fans find the most interesting. It has been thanks to this story that fans have been able to create some of the most interesting theories about the series in recent years.
The Sun God will return once more, and a new dawn will arrive.
- Harley Texts
One perfect example is the one published by X user @Merlinidc, who believes the Adam Tree in the middle of Elbaph could be the origin of three of the best Devil Fruits in the series. During chapter #1138, as Robin read from the Harley Texts, a mural depicting the two previous iterations of the world could be seen. In the middle of it all, the sacred tree of the Giants could be seen, implying its importance to the story. Besides the plant, the Sun God Nika, who is an important figure to the Giants, was depicted.

One Piece May Have Just Revealed Loki's Power, and It's Exactly What Elbaph Was Missing
One Piece Chapter #1141 finally sees Loki break free, potentially also revealing his immeasurable power.
While not explicitly stated, the mural and the relevance of this figure to the inhabitants of Elbaph implies there is a connection between the deity and their sacred tree. According to Merlinidc, it might be possible that Nika’s Devil Fruit, which was consumed by Luffy, was born from one of the Adam Tree’s branches. This theory would also be complemented by the fact that, according to Elbaph tradition, the portion of the tree in which the Giants currently live is considered the Sun Realm.
Luffy’s Devil Fruit Is Not Elbaph’s Only Treasure
Enel and Loki’s Fruit Could Also Be Connected to the Adam Tree
One of the most shocking revelations about the Elbaph arc so far is the implication that the Skypiea arc, previously considered by fans as not relevant, has become one of the most important entries in the series ever. As such, the theory proposed by Merlinidc also considers a beloved but long-forgotten villain who could also have strong ties with Elbaph’s mythology: Enel. In One Piece chapter #1141, it was revealed that in the past, lightning struck the Adam Tree, causing one of its branches and the city built on top of it to catch fire.
Although the series does not explicitly state it, it is heavily implied that this was an odd occurrence, almost as if the event had been carried out by an outside force. When Enel was first introduced to the story, it was explained that he used the powers of his Devil Fruit, which gave him control over electricity, to destroy Birka, his birth city. It could be possible that this cloud island used to reside on top of Elbaph’s tree, in what is known as the Heaven Realm.
If that was the case, the only possible explanation as to where Enel acquired his fruit would be the Adam Tree, giving him the powers of the God of Storms. Loki, the accursed Prince, could have also received one of these legendary Fruits, specifically the one linked to the God of Forest or Earth. According to the theory, the abilities of Loki's mysterious fruit will become important later in the story, with him being the one to save the Adam Tree during the upcoming battle.
Could All Devil Fruits Have Been Born in Elbaph?
The Moon People Might Have Been the Giants’ Ancestors
After the release of chapter #1138, it becomes clear that Skypiea and Elbaph are linked in more ways than one. They share deities and beliefs, and Enel’s powers indicate that they could have once been the same. While this might not seem relevant to the theory, there is a small but significant detail in the manga that could point to Elbaph being the birthplace of all Devil Fruits. According to legend, after the first world was destroyed, people sought refuge on the moon, where they remained until resources ran out.
With no other option, they decided to return to Bluestar, the official name of the series’ planet. Merlinidc suggests that after arriving, the moon people established themselves on what is known as Elbaph today. With the help of the God of the Forest, as well as the advanced knowledge they acquired on the moon, they created the first Devil Fruits. If this is correct, the Adam Tree would not be the birthplace of only three of One Piece’s biggest treasures, but all of them.
