Shortly following the initial reveal of the Nintendo Switch 2, a viral post about the console took X by storm, but the image has fans not only doubting its legitimacy as a leak, but also whether the product will be worth the supposed asking price. Rumors surrounding the Switch 2 have been a hot topic for multiple years, as the original console's hardware capabilities continued to age poorly relative to the competition over its seven-year lifespan. Despite the recent announcement of the Switch 2, however, many official details are still unknown.
Just hours after the reveal of the first-look trailer for the Switch 2, the console's price and release date have supposedly been revealed by Zuby_Tech on X, who has posted a currently uncredited image placing the Switch 2's price at $399.99 USD, and its release as July 11, 2025. While there's no verification for the alleged leak as of yet, it's certainly been a talking point for the community, with fans debating whether or not the price point represents good value.
The post, if accurate, would mean that the Switch 2 is $100 more expensive than the original console was at launch, with a roughly similar gap between reveal and release - and some fans, like beatfreakman on X, have expressed some reluctance towards the alleged price. On the flipside, there's no shortage of fans responding to the image noting that the price point is actually fairly reasonable and in-line with their expectations. While commenters can't seem to decide on the value, it's largely accepted that this image isn't accurate, with multiple users doubting its legitimacy.

There are several reasons to doubt the post's validity. Zuby_Tech, in a post replying to another user, stated that the posted image was "on their website", but Nintendo has not currently announced pricing or an exact release date through any official channels. Additionally, as pointed out by SpawnWaveMedia in response to the original post, the render used in the image matches a mockup of the console posted by another account, CardnlH, earlier in January, and not the official render used by Nintendo itself. It's also worth noting that the Euro, GBP, and USD prices are all 399.99, with no adjustment made for the currencies per region.
All this to say, there are several reasons to doubt the validity of this post in particular, and fans looking forward to the release of the Switch 2 may want to take it with an especially hefty grain of salt. Previous Switch 2 reveal leaks from Nate The Hate, who was proven correct about the January 16 reveal, posited instead that the console would release in May or June, further contradicting the information posted by Zuby_Tech.
