A group of dedicated mountain bikers has been diligently restoring the damaged Gabrielino Trail (the country’s first national recreation trail, closed since 2009), with plans to officially reopen the final sections by the end of the summer. In an era of shrinking National Forest Service budgets, the volunteer crew has made the trail restoration possible–and boosted the reputation of mountain bikers in the process.
