When the Scarlet Witch and her new magical apprentice embark on a mission to bring peace to an eternally frozen town, the witches discover an ancient godly power fueling the endless winter. Once freed, the frigid deity reveals a detail from his past that establishes one of humanity’s oldest fables as Asgardian royalty.
In Scarlet Witch #8 (2025) - by Steve Orlando, Lorenzo Tammetta, & Ruth Redmond - the Scarlet Witch takes her new apprentice Amaranth on her first mission through the Last Door. The mystical doorway opens to a cursed town trapped inside overwhelming primordial frost and victim to a horde of monstrously giant magic-feeding worms.
Lodged in the center of the “King Worm,” Wanda discovers the source of the endless winter - a sleeping man. He wakes to her touch and introduces himself as “Jack Frost” before Wanda uses her powers to discover the man’s true identity.
Jack Frost is Thor’s Great-Uncle

To save the town and the man unintentionally causing the curse, Wanda casts a spell that shatters Jack’s mind, leaving behind nothing but his truth. Instantly, he recalls first waking as “Jack Frost.” He remembers old adventures with Captain America and having been eaten by the worms. But then his mind shatters through a second barrier of a previous life. Before crashing on Earth, Jack Frost was originally known as Isabrot Burison, the illegitimate son of King Buri of Asgard, uncle to Odin, and great-uncle to Thor. Surprisingly, Isabrot and Thor have met, but neither knows the truth.
In the deity’s original life, Isabrot the Ice Breaker, “Patron of the Spring Thaw and Sentry of the Ten Realms,” waged an endless war against the Ice Giant Ymir and his army of Ice Worms. As the son of the Asgardian King Buri and a Frost Giant, Isabrot dedicated centuries to fighting back the Ice Worms until Ymir himself knocked Isabrot down to Midgard. By the time Isabrot’s ice had healed him from his fatal crash, his memories of Asgard had faded as he began a new life as Jack Frost.

Thor’s mother, Gaea, is one of the Earth’s first Elder Gods, technically making Thor related to further-reaching deities like Khonshu and Bast.
Admittedly, it’s not shocking that Thor has added another godly figure to his already complicated family tree. The gods aren’t always faithful partners and Thor’s parentage has its own weave of controversies. Thor’s mother, Gaea, is one of the Earth’s first Elder Gods, technically making Thor related to further-reaching deities like Khonshu and Bast. Through his relationship with Gaea, Thor and the Greek Titan Cronus are brothers, making Thor one of the highest-ranking powers in the Greek pantheon too. As complicated as it already is, Jack Frost won’t be the last Marvel god to be added to Thor’s family tree.

Associated with the mythical realm of Asgard, Thor is a Marvel Comics hero who channels the power of thunder to slay their foes. Though the name is chiefly tied to Thor Odinson, several other characters also take on the role of God of Thunder, including Odinson's love interest, Jane Foster. Odin is portrayed as a physically imposing hero with incredible strength and typically wields the dwarven forged hammer, Mjolnir.
