What Happened To Peter & Rose After The Night Agent Season 1
Warning: Spoilers ahead for The Night Agent season 2!Peter Sutherland and Rose Larkin seemed to be in a relationship by the end of The Night Agent season 1, but season 2 reveals the challenges the couple faced due to the Night Action program. Peter and Rose are back as the core characters in The Night Agent season 2, reuniting months after Peter was brought on as a full-time field agent. However, their relationship status has changed since we last saw the pair at the end of The Night Agent season 1.
Peter's actions at Camp David justified why he would make a capable field agent, but much of his mission success in The Night Agent season 1 stemmed from Rose. Despite not having the experience of an FBI agent, Rose proved her worth over and over again. While working together, Peter and Rose's partnership turned romantic, which made sense based on their undeniable chemistry. Though they seemed eager to stay together as Peter entered a new chapter of his career as a Night Agent, the job caused a few roadblocks in their relationship.
Peter & Rose Don't Talk For 10 Months After The Night Agent Season 1's Ending
Peter Wasn't In Contact With Rose As An Official Night Agent
When The Night Agent season 2 begins, Peter is working on a mission in Bangkok with a fellow agent named Alice. After what happens to Alice in The Night Agent season 2 due to a botched mission, Peter goes AWOL from Night Action for a month as he's using various aliases in New York City. When Night Action comes looking for their missing agent, Rose confirms that she hasn't talked to Peter in 10 months. This means their relationship essentially came to a halt when Peter got on the plane at the conclusion of The Night Agent season 1.
While Peter was preparing for his first mission as a member of Night Agent, Rose went back to California in the hopes of starting a business. Instead, she took a job with a company called AdVerse, and it's their code she ends up using to find Peter in New York. Rose reveals that they haven't talked, even after he went AWOL, but she drops everything when she learns that Peter could be in danger. Of course, Rose's expert hacking skills reunite the pair as they face another terrorist conspiracy together.

Peter's Feelings For Rose Are Why They Can't Be A Couple
When Peter and Rose reunite in The Night Agent season 2, there's obvious tension regarding their relationship. Rose has been struggling since the Camp David event, suffering from nightmares and PTSD. Considering Peter doesn't know who he can fully trust after Bangkok, he hasn't reached out to Rose in an effort to keep her safe. There's still a romantic connection between Peter and Rose in The Night Agent season 2, but Rose's kidnapping is exactly why Peter admits that they can't be together.
Netflix has already renewed The Night Agent for season 3, which went into production in late 2024.
There is no question that Rose is valuable to Peter and Night Action as a whole; even Amanda Warren's Catherine admits to it several times throughout season 2. Granted, Rose's connection to Peter constantly puts her in significant danger, as proven by adversaries targeting her to get to Peter. By The Night Agent season 2's ending, Peter shares that he wants to set Rose free, not because he doesn't love her, but because she's so important to him. The only way to keep her safe is to stay away from one another. The question will now be whether Peter and Rose's separation continues through The Night Agent season 3's story.
