What Happened To Sam Orme From Below Deck Season 1?
Samantha Orme made her debut on Below Deckseason 1, and it's time to get an update on her. When Below Deck premiered in 2013, the show aimed to bring the yachting world to viewers. For over a decade, Below Deck has become one of the most-watched reality shows, spanning four equally popular spin-offs. Sam, who had gained viable yachting experience after working charters for her parents, debuted on Below Deck as the third stewardess. However, shortly after the season started, Sam's headstrong attitude towards authority quickly set her apart.
Sam clashed with Chief Stew Adrienne Gang and even broke the rules when she and Second Engineer C.J. LeBeau were caught swimming in the ocean with a beer bottle. Sam also found herself in a romantic fling with the second engineer during the season. Besides a terrible kiss, Sam and C.J.'s relationship never evolved. Sam made her mark on Below Deck season 1; by the time the season ended, she had become one of the fan favorites. Surprisingly Sam refused to return for Below Deck season 2, noting she wanted more for herself than working on a mega yacht.
Sam Is A Wife & A Mother
Sam's Life Has Changed A Lot
In April 2019, Sam shocked Below Deck fans when she announced her marriage to partner Brad Ulmer. According to Showstar News, Sam was in a serious relationship with a man who ran a fishing tourism business in Florida. However, the two broke up in 2018, the same year she would meet her eventual future husband. After leaving Below Deck, Sam met Brad, a Coast Guard Helicopter Pilot, and their relationship blossomed. A couple of months after they started dating, the lovebirds decided to tie the knot.
Although Sam announced the marriage on her Instagram, Sam didn't indicate if her Below Deck crew mates were present as she did her nuptials. Sam and husband have since expanded their family with the birth of their kids. Sam announced the birth of their first child, Blake, on July 16, 2020. Sam then revealed her second child, Molly, in December 2021.
It's unclear whether Sam and Brad plan on expanding their family further. As of now, the couple seem content with their family of four. In 2024, the family visited Charleston, South Carolina, Florida, and did an international trip to the British Virgin Islands. In 2024, Sam also announced that "#dutycalls," and that the family would be moving out of Alabama, likely due to her husband's job. Sam sometimes has to spend weeks away from her and their daughters for military work. While she doesn't appear to be a major influencer, she is still profiting.
Sam No Longer Works In Yachting
Is She An Influencer Now?
Sam left her role as the Third Stewardess on Below Deck because she felt her skills were more suited towards something different. After the show, she moved to Los Angeles, where she became the Vice President of Engineering at a solar energy firm. However, Sam left shortly after to work as a senior Project Manager for another company. She obtained a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering. Sam was last known to be working as an Enterprise Program Manager at Fidelity National Information Services.
Currently, Sam has 16,600 followers on Instagram, but she hasn't been verified on the social media platform. However, Sam does provide a link in her Instagram bio to an Amazon Storefont, where she gets commissions from travel products for toddlers, tennis items, Father's Day ideas, and heat wave products. Sam is also on CAMEO, where she makes personalized videos for $25 each.
Is Sam Friends With Any Below Deck Alum?
Her Instagram Attests To That
Sam is very far removed from her days on Below Deck.
The former stew also appears to harbor resentment towards her crew mates and the franchise, as she does not follow anyone from the show.
She is followed by Chef Ben Robinson and Below Deck season 1 Second Stew Kat Held, but she does not follow them back. It's unclear why Sam doesn't want to follow anyone in the Below Deck world. For hobbies, Sam still enjoys being on the water via boating. She has also taken up tennis as a passion.
Since leaving Below Deck, Sam has intentionally avoided reality TV fame. However, she has grown both personally and professionally since leaving the show. Nonetheless, her stint as third stewardess paved the way for many stews who have followed in her footsteps. Despite not appearing on any Below Deck season since her last time, Sam's footprint as one of the OGs has contributed immensely to the show's success.
Below Deck Down Under premieres on Monday, February 3 at 8 p.m. EST on Bravo.
