What Netflix's Next Harlan Coben Show Is After Missing You & When Will It Be Released?

Netflix's newest Harlan Coben show, Missing You, will not be the streaming service's last adaptation of a Harlan Coben novel. In 2018, Harlan Coben signed a multimillion-dollar deal with Netflix (via Deadline). The deal includes Netflix adapting 14 of Harlan Coben's books into TV shows. So far, Netflix has made eight Harlan Coben TV shows, with Harlan Coben as the executive producer. There are a few more of Coben's books that Netflix plans to adapt. Most recently, Netflix adapted Missing You, based on Harlan Coben's novel of the same name.

Netflix's Missing You has a diverse cast of characters and a thrilling plot with many twists and turns. Missing You's ending is a jaw-dropping finale that wraps up the show's storylines. Similarly to Netflix's other adaptations of Harlan Coben's books, Netflix made big changes in their adaptation of Missing You. While some of these changes improved the narrative, some were not great. Although Missing You has a significantly lower Rotten Tomatoes score than other Harlan Coben adaptations, Netflix is moving forward with their next Harlan Coben TV show, an adaptation of his novel Caught.

Netflix's Next Harlan Coben Show Is An Adaptation Of Caught

Caught Is About A Teenage Girl Who Suddenly Disappears

Netflix has other Harlan Coben adaptations in the works, and their next TV show will be based on Coben's novel Caught. The book revolves around 17-year-old Haley McWaid and her unexpected disappearance that sends her New Jersey town spiraling. Caught has a long list of characters, making Netflix's cast list for this adaptation quite long as well. Unlike Missing You, Caught's production is in Argentina, so the official name of the adaptation is Atrapados. Caught will star Soledad Villamil, Juan Minujín, Alberto Ammann, Matías Recalt, Fernán Mirás, Mike Amigorena, and Carmela Rivero.

Missing You differs from Caught in several ways besides their production origins. Caught's cast list will be significantly longer than Missing You because Caught has many more characters.Caught has a more extended cast of characters because the narrative follows a small New Jersey town in the wake of Haley McWaid's disappearance, whereas Missing You focuses on Detective Kat Donovan's investigation of her ex-fiancé's disappearance while reconciling the missing pieces of her father's murder. However, both Caught and Missing You explore unexpected mysteries that turn the characters' worlds upside down.

Caught Will Premiere On Netflix In 2025

There Is No Official Release Date Yet

Caught will have six episodes of 45 minutes each, but the show's premiere date is still unknown. Both Netflix and Harlan Coben confirmed that Caught will be released in 2025; otherwise, there is no clear indication of when the show will premiere. Production on Caught began on March 26, 2024. On April 20, 2024, Haddock Films posted on Instagram that production had finished filming the first part of Caught. On September 29, 2024, producer Vanessa Ragone posted a behind-the-scenes editing tidbit on Instagram, suggesting that filming has long concluded.

Furthermore, Netflix has many exciting TV shows coming in 2025, so Caught's release date will have to work around the streaming platform's biggest releases—namely, You season 5, Squid Game season 3, Wednesday season 2, and Stranger Things season 5. Many of these big TV shows will be released in the latter half of 2025, which means that Caught's release date might be around the corner. Therefore, a release date in March or April is a real possibility for this next adaptation of Harlan Coben's bestselling novel.

Netflix Also Has The Rights To Adapt Harlan Coben's Myron Bolitar Books

Myron Bolitar Is A Thriller Series About A Former Basketball Player Turned Sports Agent

Netflix has additional Harlan Coben adaptations planned. Netflix announced an adaptation of Coben's novel Run Away in January 2024, but there has not been significant news about this production. Deadline also revealed in 2022 that Netflix and Harlan Coben's deal now includes Coben's Myron Bolitar series. However, production has been particularly slow on this adaptation for a significant reason: Harlan Coben has been very protective of Myron Bolitar. Coben told The Timesthat Myron has not been adapted yet because Coben "has a very specific image of [Myron], which an actor might get wrong."

Harlan Coben's Myron Bolitar book series consists of 12 thriller novels with a consistent protagonist named Myron Bolitar. The first book, Deal Breaker, was published in 1995, while the latest installment, Think Twice, was published in 2024. Myron Bolitar is a former basketball player who now owns the agency MB SportsReps, a significant difference from Kat Donovan inMissing You. While Netflix does have the rights to adapt the Myron Bolitar books, it is unknown when that will happen, especially given Harlan Coben's protectiveness over the beloved character.
