What's The Point Of Louis' Suits LA Return Without A Harvey Reunion?

Suits LA is officially bringing back Rick Hoffman's Louis Litt, but what's the point of his return if he isn't going to cross paths with Gabriel Macht's Harvey? The Suits spinoff was created after Suits saw a major resurgence in popularity when it joined the streaming service giant, Netflix. Its newfound popularity has largely contributed to the anticipation of Suits LA, which is now confirmed to be bringing back several Suits characters too.

While the Suits cameos are limited so far, their announcements came as great news as they offer a chance to see into the characters' lives after the Suits finale in 2019. However, the cameos pose their own problems too. With Gabriel Macht's confirmed return, and now Rick Hoffman's, Suits LA might be hurting its chances to thrive as a new show.

Rick Hoffman Is Confirmed To Return In Suits LA As Louis Litt

Louis Will Appear In One Episode

The good news is that Rick Hoffman's Louis Litt will be returning to the Suits franchise in Suits LA season 1. The bad news, however, is that Louis' role will be limited to just one episode. Even though Louis' appearance on the show will start off small, there will be a possibility of him returning if Suits LA gets renewed for season 2. With Ted and Stuart head-to-head in their legal battles, it will be fascinating to see Suits' original antagonist return.

Hoffman will be the second Suits character to appear on Suits LA, following Gabriel Macht's return as Harvey Specter. Not many details have been released about Hoffman's return yet, but it will likely have something to do with legal details. One thing has been revealed though: Louis' appearance will not overlap with Harvey's mini arc. Given Louis' fantastic but arrogant personality, his return to the Suits franchise is something to look forward to.

Suits LA airs Sundays on NBC at 9 p.m. ET.

One explanation for Louis' arrival could be that he arrives to help Ted and his firm as a favor to Harvey. However, Louis is in New York, so any collaboration will need a strong reason to occur. The more likely explanation could be that there is some legal battle or client that has a connection to both Ted and Louis. The real story will probably not be revealed until Louis' episode airs, but luckily, it is only a short time away.

Louis' 1-Episode Appearance Won't Overlap With Harvey's Arc In Suits LA

Harvey's Appearance Will Hold Emotional Significance

According to Deadline, Hoffman and Macht will not get the chance to interact on Suits LA because Louis will appear on the show after Harvey's arc is already over. Whether Louis will appear in the episode immediately following Harvey's story is over is still uncertain, but the separation of the characters means that there will not be any Harvey and Louis reunion in Suits LA season 1. With the chances of Suits LA season 2 happening still hanging in the balance, the lack of a Harvey and Louis reunion is even more concerning in case it doesn't get renewed.

Suits LA Officially Sets Up Harvey Specter’s Return, And It Makes More Sense Than I Thought It Would

Suits LA’s latest episode sets up Harvey Specter’s role on the show, and I'm starting to get why Gabriel Macht’s character will have to come to LA.

While Louis will only appear on the Suits spinoff for one episode, Harvey's story is a bit more fortunate. Harvey will appear on Suits LA for a three-episode arc. His story will likely revolve around Ted Black, considering the characters' history in New York. Given the significance behind Harvey's arc in Suits LA and the emotional connection he has to the main character, Ted, it is surprising that Louis will not be connected to this story at all.

Louis Appearing Without A Harvey Reunion Is Quite Frankly, Disappointing

Suits LA Will Miss Out By Not Featuring The Iconic Duo Interacting

Suits LA was never meant to be a revival, so any Suits character cameos are a welcome surprise. However, featuring two of the most iconic Suits characters on the series without showing them interacting is practically a crime. Every Suits fan watching Suits LA is excited to see Louis, I know I am. But his appearance loses major appeal if he does not interact with a fellow original cast member. It would be like Suits' Mike and Harvey appearing on the spinoff without interacting.

Louis Was The Real Winner In The Suits Finale

Suits ended on a high note for all characters, but Louis was the top winner as he basically gets everything he's ever wanted at the show's end.

Without his interactions with Harvey, Louis' appearance does not make much sense. Harvey is appearing on Suits LA because he has a personal history with Ted. When he is referenced in Suits LA episode 2, he is literally in a framed picture with Ted. As a result, Harvey's appearance makes sense for Ted's character growth and emotional struggles in the aftermath of Stuart's betrayal. However, Louis' arrival does not hold that same significance because he does not have a personal history with any Suits LA character like Harvey does.

Featuring iconic characters like Harvey and Louis but not showing them together feels a bit like a tease with no expected payoff.

Suits LA deserves to be seen as its own show but if they are already bringing back popular Suits characters, the least they could do is show the characters interacting. Featuring iconic characters like Harvey and Louis but not showing them together feels a bit like a tease with no expected payoff. It seems as though the only hope to see them side by side again would be to wait for Suits LA season 2, but with no announcement for a sophomore year yet, there is still a long time to wait.

Why It's So Much Better For Harvey & Louis To Appear In An Episode Of Suits LA

Harvey And Louis Could Have An Impact On Ted And Stuart's Relationship

The main reason why it would be good to show Harvey and Louis together again is that it would be great for nostalgic purposes. Harvey and Louis' friendship grew immensely over the course of Suits' 9 seasons. Louis even started off as a villain before he and Harvey became closer. By the end of the show, they were practically brothers. As the two characters have not shared the screen since the Suits finale in 2019 with the exception of a few promotions, it would be amazing to see them together again.

Wow, Suits LA's Villain Makes Louis Look Like A Saint Despite Everything He Did In Suits

Suits LA premieres with a major plot twist, and suddenly, I don't think Louis was not that horrible in the original legal drama anymore.

Showing Harvey and Louis together would not just act as a mini Suits reunion, but it would also be great for Suits LA's Ted and Stuart. In many ways, Ted and Stuart's animosity is similar to Harvey and Louis' own problems back in the early seasons of Suits. While their differences seem impossible to overcome at the moment, Harvey and Louis show that it is possible to work together and grow towards a positive relationship. With Harvey's appearance meant to hold emotional significance in Suits LA, maybe he will even bring up Louis, making an on-screen reunion unnecessary.
