What Sophia Bush Has Done Since Leaving Chicago PD As Erin Lindsey
Sophia Bush was a part of Chicago PD's original main cast but left after a few seasons and has moved on to other projects in the years since. The actress got her breakthrough in 2003 when she starred as Brooke Davis in One Tree Hill, a role she played for nine seasons and 186 episodes. Over the years, Bush appeared in other TV shows and movies, like Phineas and Ferb and John Tucker Must Die. However, after One Tree Hill ended, Bush didn't wait long before she secured another series regular role on a network TV series — Chicago PD.
Bush starred as Detective Erin Lindsay in the second One Chicago TV show. She made her debut in the universe prior to Chicago PD's pilot, though, as Lindsay appeared in a few episodes of Chicago Fire when she was dating Kelly Severide. The two characters eventually broke up, and Bush joined the main cast of Chicago PD in 2014. Three years later, she was gone.
Sophia Bush's Decision To Leave Chicago PD Explained
The Actress Exited After Season 4
Sophia Bush left Chicago PD after season 4 because of her negative experiences on the set. During a 2023 episode of Bush's Drama Queens podcast with Hilarie Burton Morgan and Bethany Joy Lenz, the actress compared what was happening behind the scenes of Chicago PD to her experience on the set of One Tree Hill. Bush said:
"What you experienced that night, the way you got yelled at, that's exactly the sh*t I was dealing with in Chicago and also had a group of men who were like, 'I love you so much, you're our best friend.' [They] never got involved and never stood up. And I know some of them are mad that I acknowledge that when we talk about this show as well, and you know what? I don't care. That fear that I'm going to keep talking about it better be what makes you behave better on every set you're on. From the time that you left North Carolina, the time I left Illinois, they better behave better. They better be a little afraid."
In the years following her departure, Bush revealed that she was subject to abusive behavior when working on Chicago PD. While appearing on Dax Shepard's podcast, Armchair Expert, she said that her "body was falling apart, because [she] was really, really unhappy." As a result, Bush decided to leave the NBC police procedural after its fourth season.

After exiting Chicago PD, Sophia Bush pursued plenty of opportunities on the big and small screen. In 2018, she voiced Voyd, a superhero who can create portals, in the second movie in Pixar's $1 billion Incredibles franchise. However, Bush's success didn't stop there.

While Bush has appeared in a handful of films, she has mostly stuck to TV after leaving Chicago PD. She had a recurring role in Hulu's Love, Victor, guest starred in a This Is Us episode, headlined the short-lived CBS medical drama Good Sam, and appeared as in Grey's Anatomy season 21. Bush's most exciting projects are the ones that lie ahead, though. She is working on a One Tree Hill sequel series with Hilarie Burton Morgan as an executive producer and a cast member. Bush is also reprising her role as Beth in the John Tucker Must Die sequel.
