“What Was The Point?” Squid Game Season 2’s Most Frustrating Story Has To Lead Somewhere In Season 3
A character who is capable of potentially ending the games received surprisingly little screen time in Squid Game season 2. The cast of Squid Game season 2 includes a few returning actors from the show's first season, such as Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, and Wi Ha-joon. The story of Squid Game season 2 follows Gi-hun, who is determined to put an end to the games after winning in the first season. In season 2, Gi-hun ends up joining the games once again to help new players, and unbeknownst to him, plays with In-ho, who is actually The Front Man.
As Gi-hun and In-ho, Lee Jung-jae and Lee Byung-hun get a lot of screen time in Squid Game season 2, but Wi Ha-joon's Jun-ho is not featured nearly as much as he was in the first season. While the games are being held in season 2, Jun-ho works with Captain Park and a group of trained soldiers to find the island that they are being held on. By the end of Squid Game season 2, Jun-ho has not found the island, which is frustrating. Therefore, Jun-ho's story needs to be resolved in Squid Game season 3.
Jun-ho’s Search In Squid Game Season 2 Led Nowhere After 7 Episodes
Jun-ho Did Not Find The Island In Squid Game Season 2
Jun-ho previously infiltrated the island in Squid Game season 1. In the show's first season, Jun-ho snuck onto the island and assumed the role of a guard. He took several pictures and videos that he could present as evidence. However, after escaping the island, he was shot by In-ho, his brother, and fell into the ocean with his phone. Therefore, the photos and videos he tried to send to his boss were never delivered.
Squid Game season 2 reveals that Jun-ho survived being shot and was rescued by Captain Park. After teaming up with Gi-hun early in the season, Jun-ho spends the entirety of Squid Game season 2 searching for the island. Jun-ho's storyline in Squid Game season 2 is arguably the most frustrating part of the show, since it leads nowhere. Jun-ho and his team are no closer to finding the island than they were at the beginning of season 2, which has been a common complaint among Squid Game's fan base.
Jun-ho’s Story In Squid Game Season 2 Was Very Frustrating (But Necessary)
Jun-ho's Squid Game Season 3 Story Has Been Set Up
Even though it is frustrating that Jun-ho's season 2 story essentially leads nowhere, it is still necessary to the overall plot of the series. Squid Game season 2 ends on a massive cliffhanger, meaning that most of the plot points from the season will have to be resolved in season 3. Jun-ho and his crew may not have found the island in season 2, but it was at least revealed that Captain Park is not actually who he says he is, which builds some intrigue for the upcoming Squid Game season 3.
It's possible that In-ho is the one who sent Captain Park to rescue Jun-ho from the ocean, potentially because he didn't want his brother to actually die.
The ending of Squid Game season 2 hints that Captain Park is actually working for The Front Man and sabotaging Jun-ho's mission. It's possible that In-ho is the one who sent Captain Park to rescue Jun-ho from the ocean, potentially because he didn't want his brother to actually die. Therefore, this storyline clearly isn't going nowhere, and will definitely get more attention in Squid Game season 3.
What Will Happen To Jun-ho And His Men In Squid Game Season 3
Jun-ho Needs To Find The Island In Squid Game Season 3
Jun-ho and his team can't just travel from island to island forever, so they will more than likely find the island that the games are held on in Squid Game season 3. It's possible that Captain Park will take them to the island when the time is right, or that Jun-ho will learn about Captain Park's true motives and then find the island on his own. Regardless, it is a certainty that Jun-ho will eventually end up on the right island because he and In-ho still have to reunite once again.
In-ho spent so much time with Gi-hun in Squid Game season 2, which makes it easy to forget that he still has unfinished business with Jun-ho. The relationship between In-ho and Jun-ho is one of the most interesting dynamics in the entire series, and will hopefully be further explored in Squid Game season 3. Therefore, even though Jun-ho's season 2 story was disappointing, it will likely lead to him finally reaching the island in Squid Game season 3.
