When Hope Calls Season 2 Confirms Release Date After Conflicting Reports
A release date has finally been set for When Hope Callsseason 2. The spinoff of Hallmark Channel's When Calls the Heart from creator Alfonso H. Moreno, which is based on books by Janette Oke, debuted in August 2019. The premise initially centered on two sisters, Lillian Walsh (Morgan Kohan) and Grace Bennett (Jocelyn Hudon), as they lived in the town of Brookfield back in 1916. When Hope Calls season 2 will see a significant change to the cast when it premieres in just a few months.
TVLineconfirms that When Hope Calls season 2 will premiere on Great American Family on Sunday, April 6. The long-awaited sophomore installment will be available to stream three days earlier, on April 3, on Pure Flix. Though initial reports indicated that the spinoff would be released in January, an April release date is now solidified.
What When Hope Calls Season 2 Means For The Show
New Faces Are Joining The Cast
The series initially focused on Lillian and Grace, but it was revealed during the spinoff's special Christmas episodes that Grace had left for London. That also means that Grace's love interest, Chuck (played by Greg Hovanessian), will also not be coming back. To make up for their absences, the spinoff of the long-running When Calls the Heartis adding several new cast members while also putting a spotlight on the romance between Gabe and Lillian.
Cindy Busby will be playing a new character named Nora while Christopher Russell is set to play the Mountie Michael. Model and actor Nick Bateman will join as Wyatt. They'll appear alongside returning actors Ryan-James Hatanaka as Gabe, Wendy Crewson, and Hanneke Talbot. Other actors, such as Marshall Williams (Sam), Neil Crone (Ronnie), and Lori Loughlin (Abigail Stanton) are not mentioned as part of the When the Hope Calls season 2 cast.

The Original Series Enjoys A Long Run
When Calls the Heart is a veteran series with a devoted following while When Hope Calls is returning after a long absence and a network change. With the changes to the ensemble and to chart a new path, the spinoff could benefit from a fresh start of sorts. But that'll depend, too, on the response to Grace's absence and the other additions.
