Which Pokémon Are Still Missing From Pokémon GO In 2025

Pokémon GO has continued to add new Pokémon to the game for players to catch, but many are still missing nearly 10 years after launch. Since 2016, Pokémon GO has added new generations of Pokémon into the game regularly, but remains behind the main series of games and the anime.

Each generation introduced in Pokémon GO is released in stages, normally with the starter Pokémon of that generation, along with other common spawns from the series. Other times, through events, more Pokémon are added into the game. While the early generations are nearly all complete in 2025, the later ones have a large number of Pokémon yet to be included. Here are all the Pokémon not yet in Pokémon GO from generations that have been introduced.

In total, if players have caught every Pokémon that has been released in Pokémon GO you will have 883 in your Pokédex. However, there are still 142 Pokémon from the generations that have been introduced to the game which have still not been added. All the Pokémon from the first three generations have now been released at some point for Trainers to capture, even if they are not currently available.

Even in the first three generations, there were Pokémon that were unavailable for a long time. This is the same pattern for Sinnoh and Kalos with three and four Pokémon remaining respectively.

Hisuian Pokémon remain rare in Pokémon GO, but as they are not classed as their own generation, there isn't as many of them to collect. Of the Hisuian Pokémon that have been part of the series, Basculegion is the only one that is yet to be released in Pokémon GO. From Gen 7 and the Alola Pokémon, only 11 have yet to be added to the game. This includes two Legendary Pokémon: Silvally and the mysterious Type: Null. Both are likely to be introduced uniquely either through Raids or via Special Research.

The two most recent generations to be added to the game, Galar and Paldea, both have over half of the Pokémon from their respective sets yet to be introduced. Galar currently has 49 Pokémon out of 89 still to be added, while Paldea has 76 out of 120. For both regions, this number includes a large number of Legendaries, which could be some of the last to be introduced.

Other Pokémon Which You Might Have Missed

Regional Pokémon Remain Trickiest To Find

While a large number of Pokémon have been tied to events that have only run for a set period of time, the most likely Pokémon you might have missed are regional Pokémon or Legendaries. Since the early days of Pokémon GO when only Gen 1 was available, regional exclusives were introduced. This meant some Pokémon such as Tauros and Kangaskhan were only available in certain parts of the world. If you don't live in an area that has a regional-specific Pokémon, you would need to travel to it, trade with a Trainer to add them to your Pokédex, or take part in special time-limited events.

So far, there are 40 regional Pokémon in Pokémon GO and if you don't have them, your best bet is to look online and find somebody to trade with.

Many of the strongest Pokémon in the series as a whole have only ever been catchable through Raid Battles. The Pokémon available through these changes at regular intervals, as well as for some of the biggest events in Pokémon GO. If you stopped playing the game for some time, you may have missed some of them, as many have only appeared in Raids on a few occasions. For any Pokémon that players have missed, it's best to keep an eye out ahead of big events such as Pokémon GO Fest, as this often brings a number of old Raid Bosses back across the weekend.

Finally, many other Pokémon are only available in unique ways, which again can rotate on a regular basis. This includes hatching eggs, as a reward through the GO Battle League, Field Research rewards, and even Special Research.

How To Avoid Missing New Additions

What Events And Raids To Keep An Eye Out For

The most common way that new Pokémon are added to Pokemon GO is either through events or as Raid Battles. There are weekly events in Pokémon GO, as well as separate regular larger-scale events. These events often have increased spawns for Pokémon, but also feature new debuting Pokémon. Many of these new entries will only spawn while the event is taking place before becoming very hard to get a hold of once again. To avoid missing out on any new additions, it is best to keep up to date with any new events that are planned, seeing if there are any debuting Pokémon and ensuring you catch at least one of them while it's available.

If you catch a new Pokémon during an event, you can still earn Candy for it afterwards, so you only need to grab the base version of an evolution line during any event.

Alongside Pokémon debuting during events, others also join Pokémon GO through Raids. This is especially true of powerful Legendary and Mythical Pokémon, many of which can only ever be caught through Raids. It's best to keep tabs on what the current pool of Raids are every week, in case any new Pokémon are introduced. While over 800 Pokémon are now available in Pokémon GO there's still plenty for Niantic to add in future.
