The 3,926-foot summit of Mount Nancy–one of the New England’s Hundred Highest Peaks–offers a little bit of everything for hikers in the White Mountain National Forest. Begin hiking up a moderate slope on a logging road, following signs for Nancy Pond. The trail soon enters the White Mountain National Forest boundary and continues past the Nancy Cascades, a quintessential set of New England cascades accompanied by much steeper terrain. The grade eases as the trail approaches Nancy Pond and Norcross Pond (to the west), two scenic spots that reflect mirror images in calm conditions. At the northwest end of Norcross, an unmaintained herd path leads up to the summit of Mount Nancy. This stretch is strenuous throughout (though mostly at the beginning), but easy to follow despite its unofficial status.
