Wicked 2's Title Change Explained By Director Jon M. Chu: "Nobody Wants That"
Wicked director Jon M. Chu explained why the title of the upcoming sequel was changed. After the praise the firstmovie has received, anticipation is high for the upcoming Wicked: For Good. The follow-up will pick up not long after the ending of Wicked, and will once again star Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande-Butera, Jonathan Bailey, Michelle Yeoh, and Jeff Goldblum. However, the reaction to the title change has been mixed, with some people not finding the appeal of the "For Good" part.
In an interview with Variety, Chu revealed that the subtitle "For Good" was always written in the script for the second Wicked movie. Therefore, the director explained that he and the producers had to decide whether they wanted the sequel to be called Wicked: Part Two. Ultimately, they decided to change the title.
