Based on Wicked's ending, it's easy to understand why Elphaba and Glinda won't share the screen much in Wicked: For Good, but there's a chance that the sequel's story won't work as well because the characters are so split up.

The love triangle between Elphaba, Glinda, and Fiyero will be further explored in Wicked: For Good. This will create additional tension between Elphaba and Glinda.

There's a chance that the scenes which include both Elphaba and Glinda in Wicked 2 will be even more emotional because of how much time they spend apart. It is crucial that audiences don't forget about Elphaba and Glinda's bond while watching Wicked: For Good. Therefore, as long as Wicked 2 develops Elphaba and Glinda as complex characters separately, then the movie's story can still work. It's hard not to be disappointed that Elphaba and Glinda won't spend as much time together as they did in Wicked, but hopefully Wicked: For Good is still a captivating conclusion to the story.
