Without Armor Wars, Hawkeye Season 2 Is The Perfect Place To Debut The MCU’s Newest Avengers Replacement Team
The best place to debut a highly-anticipated Avengers replacement team in the MCU must be in the newly-teased Hawkeye season 2, especially since Marvel Studios' Armor Wars movie's future is uncertain. Jeremy Renner returned as sharp marskman Clint Barton in Phase 4's Hawkeye, which marked his first solo project in the MCU, despite debuting a decade prior in 2011's Thor. It's high time Clint Barton gets given a more central role in the MCU, and the possible development of Hawkeye season 2 could finally grant him this honor.
During a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Marvel Studios' Head of Streaming, Television and Animation, Brad Winderbaum, revealed that Marvel is hoping to develop "multiple seasons" of the MCU's Disney+ shows, specifically noting that Hawkeye is "one that feels like you can make a second season of," and suggesting Marvel is "looking for opportunities to do that."Hawkeye saw Clint Barton train Hailee Steinfeld's Kate Bishop, but the series created the opportunity not just for Bishop to form the Young Avengers, but also for another Avengers team, that could be led by Clint Barton himself, to appear.
The MCU Is Perfectly Primed For The West Coast Avengers To Debut
Marvel Has Teased Several Avengers Replacement Teams
For some time, there's been speculation that Marvel Studios will be introducing a number of smaller Avengers teams alongside the core group in 2026's Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars. Sam Wilson seems to be rebuilding the Avengers, while Kamala Khan and Kate Bishop will be leading the Young Avengers. Another team from Marvel Comics that has been theorized to debut in the MCU is the West Coast Avengers, a team first seen in 1984, and there have been suggestions that Marvel Studios' Armor Wars movie would be the best place for this team to form.

Marvel’s Upcoming TV Shows Are Perfectly Set To Introduce An Exciting Avengers Replacement To The MCU
New updates concerning Marvel Studios' upcoming TV shows suggest another Avengers replacement team could be set up in the MCU's Phase 6.
Back in 1984's The West Coast Avengers #1, James "Rhodey" Rhodes became a founding member of the West Coast Avengers, though he was masquerading as Tony Stark's Iron Man at the time. In 1988, he was expelled from the group, but rejoined officially as War Machine in 1993's Avengers West Coast #94. Don Cheadle's War Machine was expected to return in the MCU's Armor Wars, which could have explored the formation of the West Coast Avengers, but the uncertain future for this Marvel Studios movie means the team might be better formed in a different upcoming project.
Hawkeye Season 2 Is The Perfect Place To Form The West Coast Avengers
Clint Barton Helps Form The West Coast Avengers In Marvel Comics
If not in Armor Wars, the newly-teased Hawkeye season 2 would be the perfect place to bring together the West Coast Avengers. It was actually Clint Barton who formed the West Coast Avengers team in Marvel Comics, at the suggestion of Vision, who wished to expand the Avengers' influence across the nation. The original team line-up included Hawkeye, War Machine, Mockingbird, Wonder Man and Tigra, but some of Marvel's most notable heroes joined the ranks of the West Coast Avengers team over the years.

Jeremy Renner's Clint Barton has been central to the MCU since almost the very beginning, having made eight appearances in live-action and being featured as a prominent member of various Avengers teams. Barton proved his mentoring skills in Hawkeye by taking Kate Bishop under his wing, and he could easily do the same to lead the West Coast Avengers in Hawkeye season 2. Clint Barton has connections to many heroes in the MCU, so could easily recruit many to his cause, which could give him a central role in the battle against Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars.
Who Could Be In Hawkeye’s West Coast Avengers Team?
Marvel Has Set Up Many West Coast Heroes In The MCU
While most of the MCU's heroes are based in New York City, Marvel Studios has introduced many superheroes on the United States' West Coast. This means the possible roster for Hawkeye's West Coast Avengers is already looking very healthy. As well as including Hawkeye and possibly War Machine, whose future may lie here instead of in the uncertain Armor Wars, the West Coast Avengers could also feature MCU mainstays such as Scott Lang's Ant-Man, Hope van Dyne's Wasp and Wanda Maximoff's Scarlet Witch, who is a powerful member of the Marvel Comics team.

Marvel Just Set The Blueprint For Ultron's Return That The MCU Absolutely Must Reject
Marvel Comics might have just teased how Ultron can return to the MCU, but Marvel Studios should avoid following this controversial blueprint.
New West Coast heroes such as Jennifer Walters' She-Hulk and Shang-Chi could also become key members of the group, while other Marvel Comics members could also join. This may include Moon Knight, Vision, US Agent and America Chavez, all of whom have been developed in recent years. Marvel Comics' original West Coast Avengers team also included Simon Williams' Wonder Man, who will debut in 2025, so it would be fantastic to see Yahya Abdul-Mateen II's hero introduced to established MCU characters and join this powerful new team in Hawkeye season 2.
