MANILA – The stage is set for the 2025 World Slasher Cup 1st Edition, as top breeders from around the globe gather to vie for the prestigious title on Jan. 20 to 26 at Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City.
Now in its 62nd year, the event dubbed the Olympics of Cockfighting promises to showcase the best game fowls.
The elimination stage will be on Jan. 20 and 21, followed by the semifinals on Jan. 22 and 23.
After a one-day break, the pre-finals will be held Jan. 25 to determine the top contenders for the grand finals the following day.
“The world’s top breeders and cockfighting enthusiasts are converging once more, bringing their prized entries to the World Slasher Cup for a shot at the ultimate glory and a place in the sport’s history,” chief operating officer Irene Jose of organizer Uniprom said during the event launch at Novotel Manila Araneta City on Saturday.
“Only the best and most skilled will claim the prestigious title of World Slasher Cup champion, a true mark of excellence in the sport of cockfighting,” she added.
The competition will feature prominent names in the sport, including visiting Mike Formosa (Hawaii) and Ray Alexander (Texas), alongside renowned local figures Patrick Antonio, Ed Apari, and Biboy Enriquez.
More than just cockfighting, the tournament is a celebration of tradition, camaraderie and the pursuit of excellence in the sport. (PNA)
