WWE Star Confirms He Was Cut From Captain America: Brave New World: “A Lot Of Rewrites And Reshoots"
After previously being set to make his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut, a famous WWE star has given a major update about his Captain America: Brave New World appearance. The road to Sam Wilson's solo film in the MCU timeline has been a long one following multiple delays for Captain America: Brave New World. While there have been many creative changes behind the scenes, another major one has just been revealed for the Phase 5 installment.
During an appearance on INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet, WWE's Seth Rollins was asked about the status of his appearance in Captain America: Brave New World. With the movie arriving in theaters next month, Rollins confirmed that his character will not be popping up in the final cut for Captain America: Brave New World, as he revealed the following:
Seth Rollins: It releases in February, I wish it the best but...I am not a part of that film. Truth be told, any answer I gave would only be my opinion on it. The script went through a lot of rewrites and reshoots so what I was there to do, essentially my role got either repurposed or completely erased. So I did do a bit of an audition to possibly pop into another role, I believe, or the repurposing of my role, I'm not exactly sure on what it was, but they ended up going in a different direction with it. My understanding was there were just a lot of rewrites and a lot of reshoots. They know they've got a finished product that hopefully they're happy with, and hopefully it's successful, but it will be sans Seth Rollins.
I'm not in the movie. I will say, unequivocally that I am not in the film, I don't want anybody to go to the film thinking, 'I'm here to see Seth Rollins,' there might be two people who would do that, but I don't want those two people to waste their time. I don't want to misinform anybody or lead anybody astray. I am not in the film. It should be a good one. Marvel does a great job.
What Seth Rollins' Captain America: Brave New World Comments Mean For The Phase 5 Movie
While Rollins understandably couldn't reveal any story details about his character in the Captain America: Brave New World cast, this revelation does once again bring up the idea that the movie has faces some challenges. Even though reshoots are common for any major Hollywood blockbuster, the number of times that the Captain America: Brave New World production appears to have tweaked things does seem notable. If reports are to be true about the Captain America: Brave New World test screenings, it would appear that the movie has faced some creative obstacles.
However, the many reported Captain America: Brave New World reshoots and rewrites are also arguably Marvel Studios' way of wanting to make this film as strong as it possibly can be. With this being the first Captain America movie since Captain America: Civil War, while also having a new hero carrying the legacy, the stakes are definitely high with this film. Whether or not Marvel Studios or anyone from the Captain America: Brave New World team will elaborate on why Rollins' character was cut remains to be seen.
Our Take On Seth Rollins' Captain America: Brave New World Comments
Based on everything Rollins revealed about not being part of the final Captain America: Brave New World cut, his disappointment is perfectly understandable, and it would have been fascinating to see who he would have actually played in the film. However, there is always the possibility that Rollins will get his MCU shot later down the line in a future project. But for now, time will tell if all these changes made to Captain America: Brave New World will lead to a critically and commercially successful product for Marvel Studios.
