X-Men Unveils Storm's Most Badass Suit in Ages, Giving Her a Taste of Vibranium Power

The epic weather goddess Storm is one of the most powerful mutants in the X-Men, but that sadly doesn't mean the Omega-level Avenger is invincible or immortal by any means. Storm has been depowered, defeated, and killed throughout her comic history, but finally in Storm #6 Ororo Munroe will don her most badass costume yet, an incredible defensive armor made out of Wakandan vibranium.

Storm's solo series has seen the beloved X-Men hero elevate her status to even higher levels, as the iconic mutant tragically dies in Storm #4 before being resurrected by the abstract entity Eternity as the Eternal Storm.

Storm #6, from acclaimed writer Murewa Ayodele and guest artist Luciano Vecchio, is part of the X-Men's next major crossover event, X-Manhunt, and it will debut Ororo's epic new Vibranium Armor, designed by Vecchio to honor the icon's time as Queen of Wakanda:

"The inspiration for the Vibranium Armor is mainly Ororo's time as Queen of Wakanda," Vecchio explained. "A Dora Milaje armor base design with a recurrent shape motif of Ororo’s crown as part of the weapon handle and capes. Also a bit of Marvel Rivals vibes, with bulky accents."

Storm Is Getting Some Epic Costume Upgrades

The hero's new Vibranium Suit is perfect for her

Storm is not a hero who traditionally wears armor, typically wearing costumes that are more aerodynamic and support her powerful weather-controlling abilities. Yet, Ororo also finds herself threatened and injured constantly, so it makes a ton of sense that in her new era, after Krakoan Resurrection has been dismantled, she would don such an epic suit of armor. Where Storm gets the Vibranium Armor is still unknown, but Ororo has a long history with the country of Wakanda, which is where vibranium was first discovered. Ororo was previously married to the Black Panther and ruled as the Queen of Wakanda for a short time, continuing to come to the country's aid even after their contentious divorce.

Storm's new Vibranium Armor design by Vecchio is absolutely gorgeous, with several aspects of her fierce costume incorporating her iconic headdress, like her new spear and subtle cape. Ororo is getting a major upgrade from Eternity, turning her into a truly cosmic hero, and now she has this epic costume upgrade as well. Adoyele's Storm series has seen the respected hero wear an incredible new costume in nearly every issue, so it is no surprise that Storm #6 will see the debut of this truly breathtaking armor. It is also very rare to see Storm use a weapon, as she normally uses her mutant ability or does hand-to-hand combat, so it is incredibly exciting to see Ororo using both her mutant power and an epic new weapon.

Ororo Will Need To Use Her New Armor Against The X-Men

The mutants are apparently on opposing sides of the X-Manhunt

X-Manhunt trailer Storm vs Cyclops-1

After Storm's battle with Oblivion and Doom in Storm #5, the beloved hero will be forced to turn her attention towards Cyclops and his X-Men during X-Manhunt. After Charles Xavier escapes from Graymalkin Prison, Cyclops - who has zero trust left for Xavier - will attempt to recapture the mutant leader, while Storm is apparently going to side with the former Professor X. Cyclops' eye beams are notoriously powerful, and while Ororo has defeated Scott on several occasions, the Vibranium Armor is a great defense against his power.

After years of heroism as an offensive player, it is encouraging to see Storm take her own life and safety so seriously, donning an instantly iconic new Vibranium Armor to face off against the X-Men in the upcoming X-Manhunt.
