Yellowjackets Season 3 Episode 4 Ending Explained: What Happened To Lottie?
Warning: There are spoilers ahead for Yellowjackets season 3, episode 4, "12 Angry Girls and 1 Drunk Travis."Yellowjackets season 3, episode 4 takes the story of the adult Lottie Matthews (Simone Kessell) in a shocking direction. In Yellowjackets season 2's ending, Lottie is institutionalized and loses the spiritual community that she built. Season 3 sees Lottie reentering society and trying to forge a new path for herself. Even though Callie Sadecki (Sarah Desjardins) shot her the first time they met, Lottie has been drawn to Callie, and Callie is equally fascinated by her.
Lottie and Callie's relationship does not sit well with Shauna Sadecki (Melanie Lynskey). Lottie giving Jackie's gold heart necklace to Callie is Shauna's breaking point, which convinces her to kick Lottie out of her house. Without having Callie by her side in Yellowjackets' present-day timeline, Lottie's motivations and actions are even more ambiguous. The mystery intensifies when episode 4 ends with Misty Quigley (Christina Ricci) and the audience learning that Lottie has been murdered.
Who Killed Lottie In Yellowjackets Season 3, Episode 4's Ending?
There Are Two Main Suspects So Far
The most likely suspect in Lottie's death is the individual who has been stalking Shauna. Yellowjackets season 3, episode 2's ending heavily implies that Melissa (Jenna Burgess) is the stalker. Episode 4 sees Lottie reciting an apology while talking to herself in the mirror. She may have gone to see Melissa to apologize to her about what happened in the wilderness, or perhaps because of something that happened to her after they were rescued. If this is the case, Melissa did not respond well to Lottie's apology, and killed her instead.

Yellowjackets Season 3 May Have Just Confirmed Another Unexpected Survivor - Is It Hilary Swank's Character?
The editing in Yellowjackets season 3, episode 2's ending hints at another survivor in the present timeline, who could be Hilary Swank's character.
Another possibility is that Taissa Turner (Tawny Cypress) killed Lottie. Taissa believes that Van Palmer's (Lauren Ambrose) cancer has gone into remission because of sacrifices made to the wilderness. Van dissuaded her from killing a man as a sacrifice in episode 4, but after seeing Van's hand shaking while buying soft pretzels, Taissa may have taken matters into her own hands and killed Lottie. Taissa may not have wanted Lottie to die, but her other half, the more ruthless one who eats dirt and takes over when sleepwalking, would have no qualms about murdering Lottie.
What Travis' Drawing After The Trial Means For Yellowjackets Season 3
"It's The Outcome"
After the trial that has Coach Ben Scott (Steven Krueger) deemed guilty of his crimes, teenage Lottie (Courtney Eaton) approaches Travis Martinez (Kevin Alves). She sees that he has a drawing that appears to depict a man lying on the ground while being surrounded by three women. Lottie asks Travis what the drawing is, and he says, "It's the outcome." This seems to be foreshadowing how Coach Ben will be punished in the aftermath of his trial. Season 3 has shown Travis having a connection to the wilderness, which now translates into his drawing.
Travis' drawing foretells Coach Ben's fate and the violent role the others will play in it.
The drawing may confirm the dark Coach Ben theory that revolves around him being eaten alive by the teenage survivors. The group has enough food and no longer has to resort to cannibalism to survive. With the angry and dangerous teenage Shauna (Sophie Nélisse) gradually becoming more powerful, though, she may lead the charge to eat Coach Ben. She blames him for burning down the cabin and for abandoning her when she was giving birth. Travis' drawing foretells Coach Ben's fate and the violent role the others will play in it.
Why Lottie, Akilah & Travis Really Change Their Minds About Coach Ben For Shauna
Lottie Sees Shauna's Power
Lottie, Travis, and Akilah (Nia Sondaya) changing their votes is integral to getting a two-thirds majority for the Coach Ben verdict. The first of them to change their vote is Lottie because she sees Shauna's palpable anger and the sway she holds over the group. Now that the wilderness no longer speaks through Lottie, she has been searching for her spiritual successor. During the vote, Lottie seems to get a feeling from the wilderness and thinks it is now speaking through Shauna, so she decides to change her vote.

Travis and Akilah are the other individuals that Lottie now believes have a close connection with the wilderness and both of them trust Lottie. Once they see Lottie change her vote, they follow her example. Lottie, Travis, and Akilah have become an aligned trio that proves useful to Shauna getting her way. Shauna does not believe in the power of the wilderness the same way that they do. Nevertheless, having the trio's support can help Shauna gain further power, even allowing her to potentially dethrone Natalie Scatorccio (Sophie Thatcher) in Yellowjackets season 3.
