You Season 5 Trailer Confirms Joe's Relationship Status With Key Season 4 Character
Netflix has dropped another teaser for Youseason 5, this time revealing the relationship status of Joe's marriage with Kate following the events of season 4. Based on Caroline Kepnes' series of thriller novels, the television series follows Penn Badgley's Joe Goldberg, who descends into obsessions with various women, leading to lethal results. Season 4 saw Joe trying to outrun his past in London, bringing him into contact with Charlotte Ritcgue's gallery manager Kate Galvin, reigniting his deadly habits as he tries to evade the truth.
Recently, Netflix released a new teaser for You season 5, with Joe getting ready. Badgley's character narrates and reflects on his journey from a bookshop owner with a dark side to his newly rehabilitated self. The footage reveals the first look at Kate, with Joe helping her dress as the voiceover celebrates how their relationship has bettered his life. However, while Joe's narration may discuss how he may have previously assumed the worst of people like Kate, select words and phrases being highlighted on-screen suggest ulterior motives, suggesting cracks are forming even after Joe had succeeded with Kate and escaped his past. Check out the teaser below:
What You Season 5's Latest Trailer Could Mean For Kate's Role
Could Their Happy Ending Be In Trouble?
Previous teasers for You season 5 have focused largely on Joe and the many people he's harmed and could have unsettled business with. Each teaser had avoided touching on Kate's presence, despite her having been seen on set, and season 4 ended with the pair fully aware of each other's dark sides and staying together. However, though she may have faith Joe is a good person despite his crimes, the new teaser could hint at her undoing.

You Season 4, Part 2 Ending Explained
The You season 4, part 2 ending changes a lot for Joe and the rest of the show's characters, all the while setting up real potential for season 5.
While each phrase highlighted in Joe's narration could easily apply to himself and the very fortuitous circumstances he finds himself in currently, they can also be easily read as jabs towards Kate, despite his claims of them being happy together. After a period of bliss, Joe's dark side still remains, and because of that, he is unsatisfied with Kate and is coming to resent her. As such, with season 5 bringing You to a close, many may wonder if Kate will recognize Joe's deterioration, and escape before she becomes another victim.
Our Thoughts On You Season 5's Latest Trailer
Audiences Are Eager To See Who Could End Joe's Story
You season 4's ending was bittersweet. Despite former partner and potential victim Marienne (Tati Gabrielle) escaping from Joe's clutches, he still managed to not only destroy several lives who could expose the truth, but clean the slate of his past deeds thanks to Kate's newly-inherited resources. As such, he had seemingly not only won, but Joe could indulge in his worse tendencies after embracing them thanks to his new position.

You Season 5 Suggests Joe Goldberg Will Get The Ending He Deserves
Penn Badgley's twisted character is getting one last run out in You season 5, and Netflix has teased just how Joe Goldberg's story may end.
As such, season 5's marketing has understandably been split between hyping up the final act while reminding audiences of whom Joe has hurt to create anticipation about who could bring him to justice if such a thing is possible. With You season 5's latest trailer suggesting that cracks are beginning to show in Joe's victory, it is possible that the woman who gave him the thing he truly wanted could be the key to his downfall if she can recognize the truth before it is too late.
