After 7+ Years, Spider-Man Is Getting Ready to Reunite With a Special Villain

Spider-Man has some of the most iconic super-villains within the Marvel Universe, but one special antagonist is making their return to comics after a long hiatus of over seven years, leaving many fans to speculate on whom this mystery foe is. Peter Parker is returning to his roots of being a web-slinging New Yorker and bringing a plethora of villains both new and old into this new chapter of Spider-Man stories.

In a preview for Amazing Spider-Man #1 by Joe Kelly, Pepe Larraz, and John Romita Jr., Spider-Man is making a refreshing return to form, fighting classic villains like Rhino while navigating the job market in his civilian life. Not only will Spider-Man’s rogues gallery receive an update with previously forgotten faces, but Marvel has teased an all-new enemy that will be joining along with the returning mystery villain.

With writer Kelly at the helm, there is palpable evidence that the mystery villain is one of his previous creations, the underrated villain known as Itsy Bitsy.

Many Spider-Man villains have been introduced and gradually forgotten throughout Spider-Man’s long history, but one underrated villain, Itsy Bitsy, is ready to make her return after her long pause from Marvel's pages. Itsy Bitsy was introduced in Spider-Man / Deadpool #8 by Kelly and Ed McGuinness and hasn’t made a reappearance since Spider-Man / Deadpool #18 in 2017, an over seven-year gap. Now with Kelly once again writing new Spidey tales, he’s brought his creation back to become one of Spider-Man’s many antagonists for this new chapter of Peter Parker’s life. Marvel even hints at her in the new issue's synoposis:

The new run finds Peter without a job and looking for gainful employment, but his job search is interrupted by a rampaging Rhino who is but the tip of a sinister iceberg. What major Spider-Villain is working behind the scenes weaponizing other Spider-Villains including one we haven’t seen in OVER SEVEN YEARS?! Also, what is that Goblin-free Norman Osborn up to these days?

Itsy Bitsy is an underrated Spider-Man villain with her intricate design and fascinating abilities, and her return to comics is giving the character a much-deserved spotlight after so many years of being forgotten. Originally an antagonist to both Deadpool and Spider-Man, Itsy Bitsy was a test subject for the villain Patient Zero and was injected with both Wade Wilson and Peter Parker’s genetics, granting her Spider-Man’s powers and a healing factor that rivals Deadpool's. Her long-awaited return will allow her to showcase and explore the depth of her powerful abilities, which make her a formidable foe to Spider-Man.

Spider-Man Returns to Form as Peter Parker Fights Classic Villains and Gets Two New Foes

The unknown antagonist has yet to be revealed, but with seasoned writer and Itsy Bitsy’s creator Kelly returning to Spider-Man comics and Marvel laying out hints, Itsy Bitsy is practically guaranteed to make her return to the pages of The Amazing Spider-Man. It's been seven years since Itsy Bitsy was last seen, but her extraordinary powers merit the villain’s grand revival. As Spider-Man returns to his roots and begins a new chapter of his life, the series is guaranteed to give fans the classic Spider-Man stories many crave with an influx of fresh faces as well as classic returning villains.
