All 3 Characters From The Witcher Who Appear In Netflix's New Movie (& Whether The Same Actors Play Them)
The Witcher: Sirens of the Deepis the latest addition to Netflix's fantasy franchise, and the anime movie is set between episodes 5 and 6 of the first season of the live-action show — so it features a few familiar faces throughout its run. Geralt is the most obvious returning character, as The Witcher's lead is at the helm of the new film. Netflix's Witcher movie is based on Andrzej Sapkowski's short story, "A Little Sacrifice," which places Geralt in the middle of a conflict between the humans of Bremervoord and the merpeople of Ys.
The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep digs deeper into Geralt's travels around the Continent and monster-hunting, moving away from the main story for a bit. But the film still has connections to Netflix's main show, as the characters it features are the same ones who drive the live-action story forward. While Ciri is absent from Sirens of the Deep,Geralt isn't the only person from The Witcher to appear in the film. And some characters are even played by the same actors as their live-action counterparts, driving home the overlap between projects.
3 Geralt Of Rivia
Voiced By Doug Cockle
Geralt is the star of Netflix's new Witcher movie, even if he's thrown into the main conflict by chance. The anime film seeks to show more of his time wandering the Continent with Jaskier, as well as more of the monster-hunting the character is known for. And Sirens of the Deep's Geralt looks and acts just like his live-action counterpart — a relief since he's not voiced by Henry Cavill in Netflix's new movie. This isn't a surprise, as Henry Cavill announced his departure from The Witcher back in 2022. Season 3 marked his final performance as the show's lead.
This meant a different voice actor for Geralt was inevitable, but surprisingly, Netflix didn't go with Liam Hemsworth — who will replace Cavill in the live-action series — for Sirens of the Deep. Instead, The Witcher's new movie cast Doug Cockle in the role. Cockle voices Geralt in The Witcher video games, so Cavill's first Geralt replacement offered a solid alternative to both live-action stars. Geralt's original English voice actor captures all the mannerisms of the character viewers know and love while continuing to make the movie's lead his own.
While hearing anyone other than Cavill in the role may still be jarring, Cockle does a great job of bridging the gap between The Witcher's live-action Geralts.
While hearing anyone other than Cavill in the role may still be jarring, Cockle does a great job of bridging the gap between The Witcher's live-action Geralts. And he's surrounded by impressive talent in The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep, including two stars who reprise their roles from the main series.
2 Jaskier
Voiced By Joey Batey
While Geralt is portrayed by a new actor in The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep, Jaskier is still played by Joey Batey. That's why the bard sounds similar to his live-action counterpart, and it's fitting that Batey returns for a film meant to take place in the midst of The Witcher season 1. Batey's portrayal of Jaskier has easily become one of the best parts of the main series, and he continues to shine in Netflix's 2025 film. Sirens of the Deep offers a more in-depth look at Jaskier's backstory, too, showing viewers where he came from and why he left.
Jaskier's dynamic with Geralt continues to be a highlight of the franchise in the new Witcher movie, even with Sirens of the Deep changing Geralt actors. The characters have just as much chemistry in this new release, and Batey's voice acting grounds the film in the greater franchise, giving viewers something familiar to latch onto. He's not the only returning cast member from The Witcher, but he has the more prominent story of the two stars reprising their roles.
1 Yennefer Of Vengerberg
Voiced By Anya Chalotra
Yennefer of Vengerberg appears sporadically throughout The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep, when Geralt is remembering his relationship with her. However, Yennefer doesn't play a role in the main story in the same way Jaskier does, so her presence is a lot less prominent throughout the film. Even still, Sirens of the Deep offers more of Geralt's perspective of their relationship, which adds an interesting layer to season 1 of the live-action show. There are also a few comical moments that reiterate Jaskier's feelings about Yennefer.
Anya Chalotra voices Yennefer in The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep, reminding viewers of how seamlessly she falls into the role.
Anya Chalotra voices Yennefer in The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep, reminding viewers of how seamlessly she falls into the role. It's a shame the movie doesn't feature more of her, though the actor's brief appearances ramp up the excitement for Yennefer's story in The Witcher season 4. And like Jaskier's return, Yennefer's scenes help connect The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep to the main Netflix series, making the overall franchise feel more cohesive.
