Apple TV+'s Neuromancer Series Casts Callum Turner's Mystery Employer With Dune: Prophecy Star

One Dune: Prophecy star is making the leap from the world of one key fictional world to another, joining Apple TV+ and Callum Turner's adaptation of William Gibson's Neuromancer. The upcoming series brings Gibson's key 1984 novel to the big screen, which helped lay the foundations for what would ultimately become the Cyberpunk genre.Neuromancer focuses on a disgraced hacker who is brought back into the profession to take on one more job, sending him on a globe-spanning adventure.

With filming continuing on Neuromancer, Deadline has confirmed that Mark Strong has joined the cast. After playing Emperor Javicco Corrino in Dune: Prophecy andtaking on the role of Carmine Falcone in The Penguin, Strong is set to play Armitage. Armitage is the mysterious employer who hires Turner's Henry Case in exchange for offering him a second chance at life, bringing him into his crew alongside Briana Middleton's augmented mercenary Molly.

What Role Does Strong's Armitage Play In Neuromancer?

The Character's Murky Past Is One Of Neuromancer's Most Tragic Tales

Strong's Neuromancer casting not only marks a talented actor joining the series but finally reveals who will be one of the most important characters. While his motives are somewhat shrouded in mystery when he first hires Case, Armitage is soon revealed to have close ties to the objective of their heist.

Within the world of Neuromancer, Armitage is a complicated and tragic figure whose past military career left him physically and mentally broken after being betrayed by his government. Another individual tossed aside by society, he and Case do share some parallels throughout the story, even if Armitage is using coercion to keep Case in his service. As such, Strong is set to play a key role in the Apple TV+ series.

Our Thoughts On Strong's Neuromancer Casting

The Series Is Slowly Rounding Out Its Crew

With filming having recently wrapped in Japan, progress on Neuromancer is running smoothly, finally bringing a key piece of Cyberpunk fiction to the big screen after several false starts. While Apple TV+'s Isaac Asimov adaptation Foundation proves the service is unafraid to dedicate itself to bringing key literature to screens, several scrapped attempts to adapt Gibson's novel indicate the difficulties.

As such, Strong's casting is another positive addition to Neuromancer. Having played heroes and villains in several genres, the actor is more than capable of taking on the multi-faceted role of Armitage. Strong's casting, however, doesn't round out the series roster just yet, as several Neuromancercharacters have yet to be cast.
