Best Places To Farm Sleep Herbs In Monster Hunter Wilds
There are many items you'll need to keep a steady supply of as you play through Monster Hunter Wilds. One of those items is the humble Sleep Herb, a necessary ingredient in crafting Tranq Bombs and Ammo. In other words, you'll need lots of Sleep Herbs if you want to be able to capture monsters, which is an important step in obtaining rare monster parts and upgrading your loadout. You'll need one Sleep Herb per Tranq Bomb or piece of Tranq Ammo, which means you'll likely burn through quite a few throughout your time in the Forbidden Lands.
Every Large Monster hunt in Monster Hunter Wilds can end in one of three ways: your defeat, the monster's death, or capture. Capturing a monster involves first dealing damage until it's weakened (your Palico will alert you; otherwise, watch for the monster to start limping and drooling). Then, you'll need to lure it into a Shock Trap or
Pitfall Trap to freeze it in place. While it's trapped, you'll need to hit it with sleep-inducing items - sometimes multiple times - to capture it. Capturing monsters means they're more likely to drop rare parts, and is outright required for certain quests.

Sleep Herbs Are Rare By Design
Unfortunately, Sleep Herbs are very hard to come by in Monster Hunter Wilds. That's nothing new; they've always been exceptionally rare items, as capturing monsters is supposed to be an occasional treat. You'll usually receive Tranq Bombs as part of your supplies when capturing a monster is part of the mission; otherwise, you're on your own.
Press left on the D-Pad to summon your Seikret and check your supply stash.
However, your best bet for farming Sleep Herbs is to check the far north of Windward Plains, near area 10 as marked on the map above. There are three Sleep Herb plants here, which is the most concentrated they get. There may, however, be more Sleep Herbs available during the season of Plenty; check the top-left corner of your map to see which season you're currently in. Like most resources, Sleep Herbs respawn every 15 minutes, so consider interspersing Sleep Herb runs between Large Monster hunts to buy yourself some time.
Other Ways To Get Sleep Herbs In Monster Hunter Wilds
Material Retrieval & More
While farming Sleep Herbs is possible, it's not necessarily the most reliable way to get them. Once you've beaten the main story, you can hire an NPC in various villages (not Base Camps) around Monster Hunter Wilds' map to gather materials for you throughout the world. This so-called Material Retrieval will allow you to passively collect Sleep Herbs (and any other items you want) while you play through the rest of the game at your own pace, but it takes a while to unlock.

Monster Hunter Wilds Review: Heading In A Bold New Direction, With One Or Two Missteps
Monster Hunter Wilds is a lushly beautiful and ceaselessly thrilling entry in the series, but its performance and on-rails story can be distracting.
Ultimately, you'll have a lot more lucksimply gathering Sleep Herbs whenever you see them. Although there are very few places where they're tightly clustered together, there are at least a couple of Sleep Herbs on every single map - just grab these as you pass them, and you'll be able to keep a pretty steady supply throughout the campaign and postgame of Monster Hunter Wilds.
