“Ashes and rocks were being blown from the crater, which was only 25 yards from where I was standing,” Ord Canfield told the Enterprise-Record in 1967—50 years after he, his brother, and a friend attempted Lassen at the very moment it blew in 1917. The Santa Cruz Sentinal takes a look back.
