Don't Be Alarmed, But I Think Spider-Man's Son Is About To Turn Into A New Venom
Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Ultimate Spider-Man #13Marvel's new Ultimate Spider-Man series may be setting up the debut of a brand-new Venom (and not just a new host). As seen in the Spider-Man series set in the new Ultimate Universe, Peter Parker received his spider powers 20 years later after The Maker intervened in his past, preventing his origins as New York's resident Wallcrawler. Accepting the power and responsibility of Spider-Man while already having a wife and children, this new Ultimate Spider-Man has been a fascinating ride thus far. However, it's likely going to get even crazier thanks to Peter's son Richard.
Previously, Spider-Man received a picotech suit with an advanced AI from Iron Man alongside the spider that should have bitten him years ago. That said, Spider-Man elected to go with a simpler spandex costume due to concerns over whether he could be tracked by Stark (whom Peter doesn't yet fully trust). Nevertheless, the picotech suit has been protecting Peter's family ever since he and Harry Osborn's Green Goblin were captured weeks prior by Kraven the Hunter. Now, Ultimate Spider-Man #13 reveals that Peter's son Richard has been out searching for his father, wearing the picotech suit which has taken on a familiar form:
While it may not be black alien goo from another planet, it's not hard to see the resemblance between the picotech suit which has patterned itself after Peter's psyche. Having joined with Richard to become a new black-suited Spider-Man, it's pretty easy to imagine how this new "bond" could lead to a brand-new Venom in the Ultimate Universe.
Richard Parker And The Picotech Suit Are Fighting Crime In Spider-Man's Absence
The Start of Something Bigger?
The beginning of the issue seemed to indicate that Richard and the suit were just looking for Peter. However, it's later revealed that the duo has actually started crimefighting with the picotech suit encouraging Richard to continue serving as an interim Spider-Man. However, it's certainly possible that the picotech suit has ulterior motives. After all, it's already begun to take the form of Peter, and probably isn't interested in being discarded for much longer by the original Spider-Man.
On the one hand, perhaps this new duo could join Spider-Man and Green Goblin in their fight against Wilson Fisk and his Sinister Six. After all, the issue ends with the new "Spider-Man" facing the new Black Cat who's seemingly taken on the mantle from her father. That said, it's very easy to imagine a darker future where the picotech suit somehow goes rogue, with Richard simply along for the ride and unable to control it from doing whatever it wants.
I Feel Like This Could Be The Start Of An All-New Venom
A New Ultimate Venom For The New Ultimate Universe
In the original Ultimate Universe, the Venom symbiote wasn't alien either. Instead, it was created by Peter Parker and Eddie Brock's fathers as a biological suit to help cure various diseases. However, the monstrous results became apparent after that universe's Peter Parker wore the suit, and later Eddie Brock who would later become the official Ultimate Venom.
Now, it seems this new Ultimate Universe could very well be set to remix Venom's origins once more by making the "symbiote" extremely advanced tech and AI capable of indecent thinking with the ability to bond at the molecular level. That said Spider-Man's son as its first true host is also an exciting twist. While an Ultimate Venom fate is currently just conjecture, it will be fascinating to see how Richard's journey with the picotech suit progresses as Ultimate Spider-Man continues regardless of the result.
