Fires Close Glacier Point Road in Yosemite

Two adjacent fires force the closure of trails, campgrounds, and climbing routes in Yosemite.

Officials announced that Glacier Point Road—along with Bridalveil Campground, Wawona Dome climbing routes, and Swinging Bridge Trail—would be temporarily closed due to a pair of fires in the area. The South Fork Fire, about a mile east of Wawona, is around 5,191 acres and 44% contained; is Empire Fire was about 4,125 acres and 40% contained. Much of Yosemite is smoky, but all entrance roads are currently open.
