Invincible Season 3 Recreated The Show's Most Violent Scene & Proved Mark Really Is Like Omni-Man

Warning: This article contains SPOILERS for Invincible season 3, episodes 1-3.Invincible has had no shortage of violent and brutal scenes, but season 3's most devastating fight just proved that Mark is more like Omni-Man than we first thought. Omni-Man's rampage during the end of season 1 still lives long in the memory of most Invincible fans, and while it's hard to ever imagine Mark getting that ruthless, the show's return was a reminder that he can be extremely dangerous. Having already been one of Invincible's most powerful characters in the first two seasons, the protagonist has continued to train and sharpen his skills, and the results are terrifying.

Season 3's opening sequence highlighted how much faster and stronger Mark is, with the Global Defense Agency hoping they can use that power to fight against the Viltrumites. Unfortunately, Cecil's contingency plan for Mark only pushed him away and caused their relationship to collapse, but not before the superhero made a very intimidating statement. His fight with Sinclair's robots inside the Guardians Headquarters got extremely bloody, but beyond being an example of how scary the protagonist can be when ticked off, the Invincible season 3 scene resembled one of the show's most gruesome Omni-Man fights.

Mark’s Fight Against Cecil & The ReAnimen Is Reminiscent Of Omni-Man Killing The Guardians Of The Globe

Both Fights Ended With The Guardians HQ Covered In Blood & Bodies

During Mark and Cecil's confrontation, the GDA leader revealed he installed a device inside the protagonist's head that caused severe pain and discomfort. While this was something Cecil hoped he never had to use, he wound up having to demonstrate to Mark its effects, prompting the hero to expose his secret to the Guardians of the Globe. With Mark, Cecil, and the Guardians all inside the Guardians Headquarters, a fight ensued, as Cecil used DA Sinclair's ReAnimen alongside his device to detain Mark while telling the other heroes to stand down as it had nothing to do with them.

However, some of the Guardians opted to help their ally, which allowed Mark to let loose on the ReAnimen. While the scene may not have been as brutal as the conclusion of Invincible's very first episode, there were a lot of parallels between Mark's fight with the ReAnimen and Omni-Man killing the original Guardians of the Globe. The location was the same, while the base was left covered in blood and corpses in both scenes. In addition, Mark showed his more evil side, proving how terrifying he would be if he followed the same path as his father.

New episodes of Invincible season 3 are available every Thursday on Prime Video.

Watching Mark mercilessly kill Sinclair's robots may not feel quite the same as Omni-Man savagely murdering the Guardians, but the ReAnimen were once human, leaving at least some moral questions about the protagonist's actions. It feels unlikely we'll ever see him go quite as extreme as his father, but he did threaten Cecil, telling him they'd never work together before warning the GDA agent not to go near his family. The venom in his voice and the power he possessed also echoed that of Omni-Man, making it clear that Mark shares his father's wrath, despite his good intentions.

The Fallout Of Mark Vs. Cecil Is Almost As Bad As Omni-Man’s Guardians Of The Globe Slaughter

While the fallout of Omni-Man killing the Guardians was absolutely devastating for Cecil and the GDA, his conflict with Mark was almost as bad. After Omni-Man's attack, Cecil was left without a senior hero team, as almost every Guardian was killed, meaning he had to turn to younger, less experienced fighters. Luckily, Black Samson regained his powers, allowing him to rejoin the Guardians having once been an original member, while The Immortal also ended up surviving the assault, giving the new Guardians of the Globe some much-needed experience. However, the team still had to essentially start from scratch.

Cecil at least still has a hero team following Mark's season 3 confrontation, but not only did the protagonist refuse to work with him ever again, Rex Splode, Monster Girl, Robot, Bulletproof, and Shrinking Rae all left the team as well.

Cecil at least still has a hero team following Mark's season 3 confrontation, but not only did the protagonist refuse to work with him ever again, Rex Splode, Monster Girl, Robot, Bulletproof, and Shrinking Rae all left the team as well. As a result, the GDA are now five heroes down and have lost a bunch of ReAnimen, making them incredibly weak following the incident with Mark. Darkwing did join the remaining Guardians following the fight, but they're still a shadow of their former selves and will struggle to take on elite enemies, with the Viltrumites seeming way too formidable.

Additionally, the five members that left seem like they will actually oppose the GDA's way of doing things after how Cecil treated Mark, suggesting their mission will become even harder. Therefore, with Invincible season 3 setting up some menacing villains for the latter half of the season, the lack of harmony between Earth's heroes is bound to cause friction that will make fending off these threats more difficult. The situation may not be quite as bad as not having a team at all, like after the Omni-Man attack, but there's no denying Cecil's fight with Mark hurt the GDA deeply.

Invincible Season 3 Is Already Setting Up A Dark Future For Mark

The Stress Of Being A Hero Is Really Staring To Take Its Toll On Invincible's Protagonist

With Mark showing some early signs of aggression in season 3, a dark future lies ahead, especially after his struggles toward the end of season 2. Having spent much of the season trying to prove he wasn't like his father, Mark's loss of control against Angstrom Levy proved there was a ruthless side in there, which the show's return has continued to highlight. His fight against the ReAnimen and his threats to Cecil is an example of the protagonist becoming increasingly hostile, but his difficulties with Oliver and his personal life show how much he is suffering mentally.

Mark's problems look set to take a toll on him, and with his new suit setting up his darker comic arc, season 3 is bound to really test his psyche. Although he still has plenty of allies, Mark is now operating without Cecil's protection and has Oliver to watch over, making the future that little bit more difficult. He also has his father's imprisonment and potential execution at the back of his mind alongside the impending Viltrumite invasion, and with plenty more surprises in store for Invincible's main character, his journey will only get darker before it gets better.
