Invincible Season 3 Shockingly Reveals How Much Stronger Than Earth's Best Hero Mark Grayson Actually Is
Warning: This article contains SPOILERS for Invincible season 3, episodes 1-4.
Invincible season 3 has confirmed Mark Grayson is stronger than ever before, but the show has shockingly proven how much more powerful he is than Earth's greatest hero. Despite the Guardians of the Globe being the planet's official protectors, Mark's skills already seem superior to his allies, but his lack of experience and frequent defeats have created questions about whether he has taken the number one hero spot. Interestingly, Invincible season 3 has demonstrated some of Mark's villainous aggression, as he tore through Sinclair's ReAnimen and killed multiple duplicates of Multi-Paul, suggesting he isn't holding much back.
Dealing with these enemies so easily and showing little remorse has started to draw some parallels to his father, but his new attitude has undoubtedly made him a lot stronger. While the protagonist is still fighting for the greater good and maintaining his humanity, his ruthless approach means he may have become even more powerful than The Immortal. Invincible has briefly explored The Immortal's origins throughout the seasons, highlighting that he was once a figure who only wanted to do good before suffering from years of trauma, and his fight with Invincible in episode 4 proves their huge skill gap.
Invincible Vs The Immortal Was Completely Different To What Anyone Expected
The Fight Was About Mercy, Rather Than Conflicting Views
Although The Immortal was Earth's greatest hero before Omni-Man's arrival, he failed to really challenge Mark in their episode 4 confrontation, which played out way differently than most people could have anticipated. The last time the heroes did battle, The Immortal looked like he was getting the better of Mark before Omni-Man's interference, but their latest fight was the complete opposite. With Mark being brought to the future, he was forced to battle The Immortal who had become the mad king of Earth and enslaved most of the population having lost everyone close to him.
He wanted Mark to kill him, and with the protagonist refusing over and over, The Immortal started attacking him. With seemingly nothing left to live for, The Immortal gave Mark an ultimatum: kill him or die. Despite this, Invincible continued to try and talk his former ally down and find another solution, but The Immortal wasn't willing to listen and even threatened to kill Dropkick and Fightmaster, showing there was no possible compromise.
The only reason The Immortal mounted any real offense was due to Mark's desire to find a more peaceful solution, but when push came to shove, he completely overpowered his opponent.
Shockingly, Mark's first real attack saw him rip The Immortal's head clean off his body, making their showdown a one-sided affair. The only reason The Immortal mounted any real offense was due to Mark's desire to find a more peaceful solution, but when push came to shove, he completely overpowered his opponent. Of course, The Immortal's request to die and his older state means he may have been slightly weaker, but despite the battle being much more emotional than physical, it did demonstrate Mark's raw power.
Mark Vs. The Immortal Could Happen Again In Invincible's Prime Universe
The Immortal's Disdain Towards Mark & Dedication To Cecil Could Put Them On A Collision Course
Mark may have killed a future version of The Immortal in an alternate universe, but it may not be the last time they face off throughout the series. The Immortal has already demonstrated some signs of his unhinged behavior in Invincible's main universe, and if he were to lose Dupli-Kate for a second time, it could be one loss too many. The protagonist's glimpse into the future shows what The Immortal is capable of when pushed too far, and the fact he already seems to have some resentment towards Mark indicates another confrontation could be on the cards.

Whether it be Mark trying to convince the others to forgive Omni-Man or another event entirely, the two heroes look destined to battle again at some point. Oliver's similarities to Omni-Man in Invincible season 3 may also be something The Immortal challenges, which Mark will almost certainly not take lightly. Given Invincible's main version of The Immortal seemed healthier and stronger than his future counterpart, a fight would probably play out differently, but with Mark proving just how powerful he is after his recent training, there's no doubt the show's leading character would come out on top again.
