Kaibab NF Hosts Youth Conservation Corps

Two crews, in the Williams and Fredonia districts, assisted with everything from trail maintenance to silviculture.

One crew of 17- and 18-year-olds worked with archeology and fire crews to thin trees, then removed invasive crayfish. Another crew took out unneeded fencing and learned map reading and GPS skills. Both of them were part of the Youth Conservation Corps, a program coordinated through the Arizona Conservation Corps—and, all told, they contributed 2,410 hours of work to Kaibab National Forest.
