Marvel Studios Executive Addresses The "Fun Challenge" Of Bringing A Family-Friendly MCU Character Into The R-Rated Daredevil: Born Again

Marvel executive discusses the lighthearted MCU character who'll appear in Daredevil: Born Againas a client of Matt Murdock's. Since the Daredevil season 3 finale put an end to Netflix's original series, Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock has appeared in two MCU titles, both as Daredevil and as his regular lawyer persona. Matt Murdock represented Happy Hogan in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Daredevil fought alongside Jennifer Walters in She-Hulk: Attorney At Law. Now, Cox's Matt Murdock is starring in his own MCU series, which features at least one Marvel character introduced in a previous MCU show.

In an interview with ScreenRant's Liam Crowley, Marvel Studios executive Sana Amanat addresses Yusuf Khan's role in Daredevil: Born Again. Amanat explains that while Yusuf Khan injects some "comedic energy" into Daredevil: Born Again, he'll fit the series' darker tone. Amanat also teases "a couple of cool moments" that reference Kamala Khan a.k.a. Ms. Marvel, who was last seen teaming up with Carol Danvers and Monica Rambeau in The Marvels. "It was such a fun challenge, I have to say. I was laughing a lot because I do think that's the most MCU-aspect of a cameo like that is that we brought some of that comedic energy that the MCU is known for with Yusuf Khan. The challenge is we're not living in the Ms. Marvel world or corner. We're living in the Daredevil corner, so just making sure that the tone compliments Matt Murdock. I think, actually, we found a lot of richness in that because Yusuf Khan's actually familiar with superpowered beings. Even though he does not know who Matt Murdock is, it was really fun to see his reactions because he wasn't actually as shocked as you might've thought. There are a couple of cool moments that we got in there that were a bit of a wink to Ms. Marvel, so hopefully, I think people are going to really enjoy that episode."

What Sana Amanat's Comments Mean For Daredevil: Born Again

Daredevil: Born Again's MCU Characters And Cameos Will Fit The Series' Tone

Charlie Cox's Daredevil inhabits the same universe as many lighthearted, family-friendly, and extravagant characters like the Guardians of the Galaxy, Ms. Marvel, and Thor. Yet, Daredevil: Born Again focuses on the gritty side of Matt Murdock's double life as Daredevil in New York City. Yusuf Khan may reference Kamala Khan's adventures with other superheroes as Ms. Marvel, but his appearance in Daredevil: Born Again won't derail the show's story and tone. By this point, Matt Murdock is more than acquainted with the existence of superpowered individuals.

The MCU has major projects in 2025, and with many characters rumored to die, one star has now seemingly debunked their character's death theories.

Just like Matt Murdock's small roles in Spider-Man: No Way Home and She-Hulk: Attorney At Law didn't affect the tones of those MCU titles, whoever makes a cameo appearance in Daredevil: Born Again besides Yusuf Khan will likely adapt to the series' grounded tone. It would make sense for characters like Wong, Captain America, and both Hawkeyes to cross paths with Daredevil, though street-level heroes like Jessica Jones and Luke Cage are more likely to appear in Daredevil: Born Again. The events of movies like Captain America: Brave New World and Thunderbolts* could also be addressed.

After offering his services to Happy Hogan and Peter Parker in Spider-Man: No Way Home, romancing and fighting alongside Jennifer Walters in She-Hulk: Attorney At Law, and representing Yusuf Khan in Daredevil: Born Again, Matt Murdock has already gotten personally close to multiple MCU superheroes who may assemble a new Avengers team soon. Whether Matt Murdock maintains a low profile or chooses to work with them as Daredevil, Matt might be one step closer to joining Earth's Mightiest Heroes. Matt Murdock's contact network may come in handy when Avengers: Doomsday arrives.
