Monster Hunter Wilds Beta Test Will Get An Extra 24 Hours Due To PSN Outage
After the PlayStation Network was down for almost 24 hours during a worldwide outage, the developers of Monster Hunter Wilds decided to give fans an extra day to playtest the upcoming title. Back in November 2024, Capcom held their first open beta test for Monster Hunter Wilds, and decided to host another in February 2025. During the second playtest, the PSN was down for almost an entire day, leaving PlayStation users unable to access Monster Hunter Wilds during the downtime.
In a post on X from the official Monster Hunter account, the developers wanted to make good out of the bad situation that occurred with the PSN and offered an extra day of play for MHW.The details on when that extra day will take place are still foggy, but the devs state they will keep fans updated on when the playtest day will take place.
Capcom has officially announced the dates and times for the extra 24 hours of the Monster Hunter Wilds open beta test on all platforms: Feb. 13, 7pm PT / Feb. 14, 3am GMT – Feb. 17, 6:59 pm PT / Feb. 18, 2:59 am GMT
Capcom To Give Players An Extra Day To Test Monster Hunter Wilds
PlayStation Hunters Aren't Being Left Behind
The current Monster Hunter Wilds OBT2 is scheduled to end on February 9 at 7PM PT, so it doesn't appear that this current playtest will be extended for the extra day of playtime. While the launch date for MHW is set for February 28, and a second playtest is scheduled for February 14, one can only assume Capcom will extend the second playtest in order to allow PlayStation users to make up for lost time during the outage.
Sony has yet to touch on exactly what caused the outage, only stating in a recent X post that the service "recovered from an operational issue", with no further details shared at the time of writing. While the outage was one of the longest seen in quite some time, keeping PlayStation players from being able to enjoy MHW while it's available for the test, fans are thrilled that Capcom is willing to make up for time lost.
