Last week, Navajo Nation Tribal Council members voted 16 to 2 against a proposal by developers to build an aerial tram, hotel, and retail sites on the Grand Canyon’s East Rim. The plan has been controversial since it was introduced last year, drawing opposition from tribal members, environmentalists, outdoor lovers, and even celebrities such as Robert Redford.
