Pokémon TCG Pocket Leak Reveals Next Events, Including New Kind of Giveaway With Rare Cards
A new Pokémon TCG Pocket datamine has revealed several upcoming events, including a brand-new giveaway with guaranteed rare cards. Later this week, Pokémon TCG Pocket will launch its new Space-Time Smackdown expansion, adding over 200 new cards to the game. Also launched this week is the new trading mechanic, which will allow players to trade some cards with their friends. While the new cards and new mechanics will be the big focus for players this week, a new datamine also revealed what players can look forward to over the next several weeks.
A datamine posted to Reddit revealed upcoming event announcements that will roll out over the next two months. The new events include the return of the Emblem event (which players earn by winning battles against human opponents), a new Cresselia ex Drop event, and new Wonder Pick events. The most interesting new event is tied to Pokémon Day, in which players get one of each Genetic Apex pack with a guaranteed 4-Diamond or better card inside. All the events can be seen below:

Wonder Pick Events, Mass Outbreaks, and Emblem Events Coming Next Month
According to the datamine, the new events include:
- Cresselia ex Drop Event (Starting February 3rd)
- Space-Time Smackdown Emblem Event (Starting February 4th)
- Chimchar and Togepi Wonder Pick Event (Starting February 7th)
- Darkness-Type Mass Outbreak Event (Starting February 21st)
The datamines also revealed that Cynthia will be getting a set of premium accessories, which can only be purchased using Poké Gold. Darkrai will also get accessories exclusive to the Premium Pass shop, while Chimchar will get a set of accessories tied to the Wonder Pick event. Pokémon TCG Pocket will also give away Trade Tokens and Trade Hourglasses in a separate free giveaway sometime in February.
Keep in mind that, as with all datamines, these events should not be considered official until launched. However, it appears that Pokémon TCG Pocket is sticking with a familiar pattern that mixes battle-focused events with events that lean on the Wonder Pick function. It's interesting that there's no event celebrating the launch of trading or a bigger event for Pokémon Day. These events will likely take us close to the launch of the next mini-expansion, which will likely roll out in mid-March.

Pokemon TCG Pocket Is Falling Into A Pattern, And That's Not Good
While I'm excited for the packs with guaranteed rare cards, I'm much less excited for the current set of events. It feels like Pokémon TCG Pocket is relying on the new Space-Time Smackdown set to keep players logging in on an everyday basis. The new cards are probably enough, but most of the leaked events already feel stale. I hope that Pokémon TCG Pocket's developers will consider mixing things up in the coming months, especially as the app can't lean on new cards forever.
