On Thursday, Gov. Jerry Brown signed a bill that would fast-forward the sale of a 6,500-acre tract of land owned by the San Jose Water Company—and would allow the land to become part of the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District. The company has owned the land since the late 1800s, and it includes 1,100 acres of redwood. The asking price? Over $30 million.
