Sims 4 Businesses & Hobbies Is Ignoring Its Most Resonant Opportunity

There is a lot of hype surrounding EA's recent announcement of The Sims 4's upcoming expansion pack,Businesses & Hobbies, as it will introduce a variety of fun ways for players to express themselves. From the art of mastering pottery to opening a tattoo parlor, there will be many interesting and new opportunities for Sims in The Sims 4 to experience more fulfillment in their lives. The Sims 4 Businesses & Hobbies is set to release on March 6, 2025, with its initial trailer release and public information about the expansion pack generating excitement in the gaming community.

Despite the fact that Businesses & Hobbies will introduce many new avenues for Sims to explore when it comes to their interests and life goals, there is one creative outlet that is noticeably excluded from its content — music. Although The Sims 4 has always featured musical instruments and singing, Businesses & Hobbies misses an opportunity for Sims to progress a little further into the music industry.

Sims 4 Businesses & Hobbies Is Missing The Music

Musical Pursuits Are Some Of The Most Exciting

Whether their interest aligned with writing, performing, or producing music, the Business & Hobbies expansion pack could have been the perfect chance for The Sims 4 to offer a more in-depth music industry experience. Music is a part of some of the most popular artistic careers, so it's surprising that it's absent from this expansion pack.

Businesses & Hobbies could have introduced new systems in The Sims 4 where Sims could, for example, earn money by performing at live concerts, participating in an orchestra, becoming session musicians, and even receiving music royalties for streaming. There are so many potential features when it comes to music that could make the game more interesting.

Bands & Orchestras Could Be Memorable Hobbies

Fun On The Side Or A Full Career

Unfortunately, one of the biggest opportunities that EA has missed with the Businesses & Hobbies expansion pack is the introduction of bands and orchestras. If players had the opportunity to create bands in The Sims 4, the activity could include an entire variety of new gameplay features that could easily warrant an expansion pack on their own. For example, Sims could experience practicing together, performing live, and working their way up to play bigger and better venues while boosting their profile. They could earn streaming revenue online for their recorded music, an interesting but challenging path to financial success.

When it comes to the possibility of orchestras being introduced in The Sims 4, many new instruments for Sims to learn and could have made the game a lot more interesting. Sims could experience learning and mastering their instrument, joining local orchestras, and working their way up to be in the most famous orchestra, selling out impressive concert halls. This would, of course, provide a stable income for Sims and would be an entirely new career path, featuring a very goal-oriented path for players to enjoy.

Building A Sims 4 Recording Studio Would Be Great

Collaboration Is The Key

In addition to the exciting introduction of tattoo parlors and pottery studios, recording studios would have been a fantastic new feature in Businesses & Hobbies, and would allow Sims in The Sims 4 to take their music careers and skills to the next level. Recording studios could have introduced a number of new gameplay features, including the option to hire music producers, collaborate with other musicians, create album artwork, and more. The recording studios would have become thriving businesses, generating an opportunity for Sims to earn streaming revenue from their recordings.

It's still possible that a music-focused expansion pack is actually on the horizon.

Businesses & Hobbies looks like it could be one of the best expansion packs yet released for The Sims 4, as its content appears to align with a modern audience and their interests. However, given The Sims franchise's strong connection to music, it begs the question of why more features based around this particular interest are absent from Businesses & Hobbies.

Because music as an improved feature is missing from this upcoming expansion pack, it's still possible that a music-focused expansion pack is actually on the horizon, which would allow for a level of depth that might not fit into the scope of Businesses & Hobbies. If anything is in the works, however, it hasn't yet been revealed, so it's best not to wait with bated breath for The Sims 4to overhaul musical opportunities.
