Recent cool weather has allowed Powderhorn Mountain Resort to crank up its snow machines, starting to blanket the slopes even before the real stuff starts falling. Staffers hope to open the mountain even before the official December 15 start date; when it does, Powderhorn will introduce a newly expanded competitive freestyle skiing program for kids.
