Star Wars: The Bad Batch Expands Season 3 With a Prequel All About Ventress
Legendary Star Warsantagonist Asajj Ventress is back in a new Dark Horse Comics series, in a story that serves as a prequel to her role in season three of the animated Bad Batch series. The story will chronicle an earlier encounter between Ventress and the iconic clone warriors, which will add a new, deeper layer of context to the action of that story arc.
As first revealed by StarWars.com, Star Wars: Hyperspace Stories: The Bad Batch — Ghost Agents #4 – written by Michael Moreci, with art by Reese Hannigan – will prominently feature Ventress, as she "[taunts] Clone Force 99 from the shadows," in a story that promises to add meaning to the later conflict between the villainous Dark Side user and the heroic clone squad.
Notably, the issue will also feature Ventress working alongside Aurra Sing, a similar character, with similar origins in the franchise's old "Legends" canon.

While the details of Asajj Ventress' role in The Bad Batch – Ghost Agents, from Dark Horse Comics, will remain an open question to be gradually revealed as the series progresses, fans of the franchise and the character are immediately excited to know that she is making her triumphant return to comics. As a character, Ventress has had a fascinating trajectory since her introduction to Star Wars lore over twenty years ago, and in that time has more than earned the right to be called one of the franchise's premiere antagonists.
As author Michael Moreci put it:
I can't express enough just how thrilled I am to be writing more Bad Batch. But any good hero needs good villains, and there's no better villain than Asajj Ventress. Sure, we had to pull some strings to make any encounter between them work, but we did just that — and the result is a fun, action-packed adventure.
Originally conceived of as part of the development of Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones, Ventress went on to establish herself as a fan-favorite Dark Side-wieler through her appearances in Star Wars comics and animated shows. Notably, many of the character's foundational stories were published by Dark Horse Comics; though Star Wars comics are now primarily produced by Marvel, Dark Horse still publishes some, and it is fitting that Ventress will have a starring role in the latest Bad Batch series.

It will also be especially exciting, and gratifying, for longtime fans of Star Wars to find out how Aurra Sing factors into The Bad Batch – Ghost Agents. Like Ventress, the bounty hunter Sing is a powerful and incredibly dangerous enemy, one whose brief appearance as an extra in The Phantom Menace led to a prolific history in the Extended Universe, particularly in the "Legends"-era comics from Dark Horse. How Sing and Ventress will work together, and why, are now perhaps the most prominent question fans want the series to answer.
[Asajj Ventress] ranks among the characters who have been uplifted most by the Disney reboot of Star Wars continuity, having become even more central to the franchise in the decade since.
Still, it is Ventress who is front and center on the cover of Ghost Agents #4, and it seems as though she will be the overarching antagonist of the miniseries. This is fitting, as she ranks among the characters who have been uplifted most by the Disney reboot of Star Wars continuity, having become even more central to the franchise in the decade since. Her latest comic book appearance continues that trend, and is certainly one of many more Asajj Ventress Star Wars stories fans can expect in the coming years.
