The king of the Berkshires seems like the best place to catch 90-mile summit views of Mass’s world-famous fall foliage—if you don’t know about its quiet shoulder. Stop midway up this alternate, 5.5-mile huffer to the summit for a crowd-free view of painted slopes, as well as Greylock itself and The Hopper, a glacial cirque bursting with reddening forest.
