The Only Pink Ranger To Ever Lead A Power Rangers Team Was Somehow Even Cooler Than Kimberly
Creating a Pink Ranger that could be as cool as Kimberly from the original Power Rangers show was arguably impossible, but Time Force managed to do it. With Power Rangers in Space wrapping up the Zordon Era in 1998, the show was now free to create new characters and locations every season. While no longer having that sense of interconnectivity from the first few seasons felt bittersweet, some of my favorite Power Rangers seasons only exist because the show was able to move on from Angel Grove and the original Rangers.
This includes Time Force, which came out in 2001 as the third standalone Power Rangers season following Lost Galaxy and Lightspeed Rescue. Like the previous two seasons, Time Force introduced an all-new cast of Rangers, all of whom were adults instead of teenagers. Between the darker tone and the three-dimensional characters, I could go on for hours about why Time Force is one of my favorite seasons. One of the reasons is Jen Scotts, who turned out to be one of the best Pink Rangers and a worthy successor to Kimberly.
Jen Scotts Is The Only Pink Ranger To Have Led A Power Rangers Team
Jen Made History In Power Rangers Time Force
Over 20 years after Time Force, Jen Scotts remains the only Pink Ranger to have been the leader of their team. While Alex was the leader of the Time Force Rangers before the events of the show, the Red Ranger was killed in battle during the first episode. Jen, who was engaged to Alex, soon saw herself having to lead the Rangers into a highly dangerous mission to the past while searching for the supervillain Ransik. For most of Time Force, it’s Jen who leads the Power Rangers.
Delphine, the White Ranger from Mighty Morphin Alien Rangers, was the first female Power Rangers team leader. Additionally, while former Pink Ranger Amelia eventually led her team in Cosmic Fury, she did so after becoming a Red Ranger.
It is worth noting that the fact Wes replaced Alex as the Time Force Red Ranger does not mean that the former instantly became the team’s new leader. Wes was the rookie in Time Force, which is not something we get to see very often when it comes to Red Rangers. Almost every Power Rangers team is led by a Red Ranger, with Time Force being perhaps the most important exception to this rule. Wes eventually rose up to the challenge of being a Red Ranger, but they were still Jen’s team.
Time Force Is A Fan-Favorite Power Rangers Season (And Jen Steals The Show)
Power Rangers Doesn’t Get Much Better Than Time Force
I fell in love with Power RangersTime Force from the very first episode, and I was not the only one. Considered by many one of the show’s greatest seasons, Time Force is Power Rangers at its best and an example of how the series does not always need to follow the Mighty Morphin formula. From the Rangers being time cops who just lost their leader in battle to the Red Ranger being a spoiled rich guy who has to prove himself, I never expected a Power Rangers season to have such an interesting story.
Power Rangers Time Force Team | |
---|---|
Character | Color |
Jen Scotts | Pink Ranger |
Wes Collins | Red Ranger |
Lucas Kendall | Blue Ranger |
Trip | Green Ranger |
Katie Walker | Yellow Ranger |
Eric Myers | Quantum Ranger |
Alex Drake | First Red Ranger |
Time Force could be as silly as any Power Rangers season sometimes, but it also treated its villains seriously enough when necessary. I don’t think any Power Rangers scene ever shocked me as much as Ransik killing the Red Ranger a few minutes into the first episode of Time Force did, a moment that set the tone for how different this season was going to be. The Pink Ranger and the way she evolves as a leader are some of the best things about Time Force, a show that also included the amazing Quantum Ranger Eric Myers.
I Love Kimberly, But Time Force’s Jen Might Be My Favorite Pink Ranger
Time Force Was A Fresh Take On The Power Rangers Colors’ Tropes
It might be unfair to compare any Power Rangers character to Kimberly and the rest of the original team given how iconic MMPR is. Despite leaving the team toward the end of season 3, Kimberly remains synonymous with “Pink Ranger” and is among the most recognizable characters in the franchise. That said, as someone who considers Time Force a top 3 Power Rangers season, Jen might be my favorite Pink Ranger. Just the fact that Time Force was doing something different from the usual color scheme routine was already exciting, but Jen was a great character on her own.

Power Rangers In Order: How To Watch Every Series Chronologically & By Release Date
From Mighty Morphin to Cosmic Fury, here is how to watch every Power Rangers TV show in order, both chronologically and by release date.
Seeing a Power Rangers team leader struggling with whether they should strive for revenge or justice was something I had never gotten from the show until Time Force. I also loved how Jen was willing to teach Wes how to be a better Ranger, even though he was a constant reminder of the partner she had lost. Flawed Red Rangers are usually my favorites, which is why I found Wes and Jen’s dynamic in Time Force to be so fascinating. Kimberly and her team will forever be Power Rangers royalty, but Jen deserves a spot among the greatest Pink Rangers too.
