The White Lotus Season 3's Surprise Return Character Addressed By Other Returning Star Natasha Rothwell

Rothwell comes back to the series to play Belinda, who first appeared in season 1 as a worker at the resort's Hawaii branch. This time, Belinda herself is a guest at the resort's Singapore location, participating in this season's three-month wellness retreat. Joining Rothwell on screen is a host of new cast members for The White Lotus season 3, including Aimee Lou Wood, Walton Goggins, Parker Posey, Carrie Coon, Leslie Bibb, Sarah Catherine Hook, and Jason Isaacs.
In an interview with ScreenRant, Rothwell reacted to Greg's surprising return for season 3. The actor started by pointing out how excited she was when White asked her to be a part of The White Lotus season 3. Then, she transitioned into explaining how she "finally read the scripts" and was "floored" by learning who else would be coming back for the season. She felt that Greg's reintroduction was brought "beautifully and elegantly into the script." Check out the full quote from Rothwell below:
Natasha Rothwell: I was so excited. When I found out I was with Mike [White], he asked me out for dinner when he was in town for the Emmys. And he was just like, I'm thinking about Belinda for another season. And I was like, say less, I'm there. I'm a writer, too, so I know that nothing's really real until you put pen to paper. And so he went back to Sicily to finish shooting season two. And then after all was said and done, he reached out again. He's like, I'm really excited for Belinda this season. I was so geeked. It was super exciting. I said yes to him before I knew where we were going and before I read a single script.
But then when I finally read the scripts and I saw who else was coming back, I was just floored. It was so exciting to be able to bring in that threat so beautifully and elegantly in the script.
What Greg's Return Means For The White Lotus Season 3
Greg Is The Only Character To Appear In All Three Seasons Of The Series
As was the case with Rothwell's own experience accepting season 3 role offer, Jon Gries' reappearance as Greg was kept a secret during the promotion of the series. Rothwell was in The White Lotus season 3 trailers and spoke in interviews promoting Belinda's return, but the production did not mention any other characters coming back for the season. Then, towards the end of the season 3 premiere, Greg is introduced, sitting at a table at the resort.
Greg is now the only character to appear in all three seasons of the show. Previously, both him and Tanya had carried over from season 1 to season 2, but with Tanya McQuoid meeting her demise during The White Lotus season 2 ending, she is no longer eligible to come back in the series. Bringing back Greg keeps a thread of that storyline alive without pulling any cheap tricks, such as somehow reviving Tanya.

His Threat Could Intersect With Other Characters' Plots
Rothwell positions Greg as a "threat," and that is exactly what he is. Season 2 revealed that Greg was secretly plotting to kill Tanya and take her money. In season 3, he is seen with a new (and younger) woman, leaving audiences wondering whether Greg is attempting to scam her as well. Season 3 has also hinted at some nefarious crime going on with Isaacs' character and potentially Goggins' character, so it will be interesting to see how Greg could mix things up in The White Lotusseason 3.
